NAPA News - Week 4, Term 1, 2026
Week 4 is upon us! As usual the year is flying by and we are nearing the middle of term. It’s been a wonderful start to the year so far, and I have loved seeing everyone enjoying their classes and making new friends. There is such a positive vibe around the studio!
This week we open A Midsummer Night’s Dream, our NAPA Ensemble production. For those of you who don’t know what NAPA Ensemble is, it is our adult theatre company that offers opportunities for our adult community to work on productions often in association with our NAPA Youth program. This production features our NAPA College Cert III and IV students in as the Faerie Ensemble, which also gives them the opportunity to work in an environment with experienced adults. This production is an adapted Shakespeare play, and uses music to enhance the magic, deepen the emotion, and bring a fresh, spellbinding energy to this timeless tale.
If this is your first Shakespeare production we have a special message for you from our Director, Amy Elkin -
For those lucky audience members about to experience their first Shakespearean play, a word of advice: let go of the idea that you need to understand every word. Instead, focus on the emotion of the scene and trust that our actors will use their expressions, movements and delivery to safely guide you through the adventure. Our show begins and ends in the royal palace in Athens, but most of it will be spent over one wild night in an enchanted forest full of mischievous fairies. Enjoy the chaos and the magic of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Wishing all of our families a wonderful week ahead … we can’t wait to see everyone in the studio!
NAPA News - Week 3, Term 1, 2026
As we head into Week 3, I would like to once again extend a very warm welcome to all of our new NAPA families. We have loved meeting so many new cherubs already this year and are incredibly excited to see our NAPA community continue to grow. Week 3 brings with it more opportunities for learning, growth, confidence-building and, of course, plenty of fun! If your child is still settling in or deciding which class best suits their passions and goals, please feel free to reach out to Kimberley for guidance at [email protected] … we are always happy to help.
Our newsletter remains our primary form of studio communication, so if you’re reading this … thank you for staying connected! With such a busy and vibrant studio, we aim to share all important updates here, alongside class specific emails when needed. We strongly recommend creating a dedicated folder in your inbox for NAPA correspondence so you can easily keep track of important information, dates and your child’s requirements throughout the year.
Wishing all of our families a wonderful week ahead … we can’t wait to see everyone in the studio!
NAPA News - Week 1, Term 1, 2026
Welcome to 2026 and another exciting chapter at NAPA!
To all our returning families, welcome back! And to those joining us for the first time, we are so glad you are here. Each new year brings fresh energy, new goals, and wonderful opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and shine, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of our biggest yet.
This year we are proud to be staging three NAPA Ensemble productions, four Youth Musicals, two Youth Plays, three Dance Concerts, and a special Holiday Production. Our students will also take to the stage beyond NAPA, attending two dance competitions and representing us in the Drama and Vocal sections at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. And somewhere amongst the rehearsals, performances, and busy studio days, we will come together to celebrate a very special milestone … NAPA’s 20th Birthday.
It promises to be a year full of creativity, hard work, community spirit, and unforgettable moments for our students, families, and staff. Thank you for being part of the NAPA journey. We can’t wait to share an incredible year with you all.

It’s Little Mermaid week! Our Broadway Tweens are in their final stages of rehearsal to bring this family favourite Disney musical to the stage this weekend. I was so impressed with the cast in their first tech/dress rehearsal last night and can’t wait for you all to see them this weekend. There are a few seats available across the 4 shows, so if you haven’t booked, get in quick! A big thank you as always to our amazing teachers. Miss Laura, Miss Mandy and Miss Jackie have worked hard to bring this show to life. As I type this Miss Laura is already at the studio painting sets, organising props and making sure that the show is ready to go for our cherubs. What a legend!

A massive congratulations to our Broadway Bound students who performed Curtains over the weekend. I’m sure everyone who attended will agree that it was a smash! The kids did a brilliant job with this little known musical. They embraced it from day one and the results were proof of their hard work. This was a special cast with so many amazing performances, from our leads to our ensemble players. Everyone looked like they were having a ball. Well done to our cherubs, but also to our amazing creative team - Cilla, Matt, Mandy and Suzanne. We couldn’t do it without you!

There is a lot of information in this week’s newsletter, but also being emailed home from your child’s class teacher. Please ensure you are taking note of all information that applies to your child to ensure they have a smooth term 4 experience. Those involved in productions will need to take special note of dates and times but also any costume, hair and make-up requirements.
NAPA News - Week 10, Term 3, 2025
Welcome to the final week of term 3. We had another busy week at the studio with Winnie the Pooh being performed by our Broadway Kids and our Acting and Vocal students competing at Gold Coast Eisteddfod. For our Broadway Kids, as is tradition, you will have this Saturday off. This means you are now on holidays! If your child attends other classes, these remain on as usual.
NAPA News - Week 9, Term 3, 2025
Another big week comes to a close. This weekend our Dance students competed at Evolution Dance Competition and our Pre-Senior Tread the Boards class staged their production of April Aardvark. I was so glad I got to see the Friday evening performance before heading into comp land on the weekend. These young actors are an absolute credit to our amazing Miss Amy. The level of performance from these grade 7-9 students was brilliant and they conducted themselves like true professionals in a very technically demanding show. I loved every aspect of their performance and could not be prouder of the students’ growth this year.
NAPA News - Week 8, Term 3, 2025
As we head into Week 8, my heart is so full. Watching our students thrive in their classes has been such a joy. This week I’ve overheard so many little voices exclaiming, “I’ve had the best day ever,” “I love it here,” and “I had the best time.”
NAPA News - Week 7, Term 3, 2025
Week 7! I cannot believe how much we have achieved this term and how much we still have to come. This weekend we completed our dance groups at Gold Coast Eisteddfod with some amazing results. So many amazing studios and massive sections, but our cherubs held their own. Most importantly, they had a blast! I loved seeing them come off stage with faces beaming … that is what it’s all about!
NAPA News - Week 6, Term 3, 2025
Week 6 is off to a fantastic start with some wonderful results from our Gold Coast Eisteddfod groups over the weekend. Beyond the great achievements on stage, the feedback from judges, audiences, and GCE convenors has been outstanding. Our students were praised not only for their performances, but also for their professionalism and conduct behind the scenes. This is the kind of feedback we value most, as it reflects the behaviours we strive to instil in our performers to prepare them for professional pathways. Congratulations to our cherubs and teachers — we are so proud of you all!
NAPA News - Week 5, Term 3, 2025
Welcome back to Week 5 of Term 3! We have an exciting weekend ahead as our Gold Coast Eisteddfod groups take to the stage for the very first time this year. Our choral group will kick things off on Friday, followed by our junior dance groups on Saturday and Sunday. This is all about celebrating the journey - setting goals, sharing special moments with your teammates, and enjoying the magic of performing together. A huge thank you to our incredible teachers, whose talent, passion, and countless hours of preparation make these opportunities possible for our cherubs.

This edition of the newsletter focuses on some important updates around studio safety. We kindly ask all families to take a few moments to read through the information carefully, as it helps us keep our studio a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
NAPA News - Week 2, Term 3, 2025
As our busy first week of Term 3 ends, I have been thinking about how far we have come at the studio. This also made me realise that so many of our new families don’t know the history of NAPA and what we are all about. Some of you have never met Miss Lynn Dyer, my partner in crime from the beginning. Lynn retired last year, along with her husband Laurie - our trusted handy-man, business manager and smiling face at reception for many years! You will still see them at shows if you’re lucky, and I know the kids love to see them in the audience. I know not everyone may have read our website but here is a little brief on our vision for NAPA. Where we came from and what we hope to achieve!
NAPA News - Week 1, Term 3, 2025
Welcome to Term 3! It’s going to be a big one. This term we have Sweeney Todd, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Evolution Dance Comp, April Aardvark, our Performance Team Concert and Winnie the Pooh!
