NAPA News - Week 1, Term 4, 2024
Welcome back for Term 4. I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday break and are ready for a big final term! Lots of news this week, so please take time to read.
WIZARD OF OZ
Congratulations to Miss Laura, Miss Mandy, Miss Jackie and our Broadway Tweens for an amazing season of The Wizard of Oz. Audiences loved it and we were so proud of each and every performer. A big thank you to our Miss Suzanne and our College helpers, along with all those who volunteered backstage and front of house. We could not do it without the help of our support team! Our Broadway Tweens will now continue with their training to help better their skills ready for next year’s productions. This training time is essential to building skills and honing their craft, and the teachers have identified some areas to focus on in Term 4.
High School Musical
Our next production is High School Musical performed by our Broadway Bound class. We are so excited to see this family favourite up on stage. Miss Cilla, Miss Hannah and Mr Matt have been working hard with our talented cherubs and this will be one not to miss! Tickets go on sale to the public on Wednesday 2nd Oct at 6.00pm.
ANNIE - summer school auditions
Due to the large number of applications, we have decided to make our first round of junior auditions via video submission.
ALL ANNIE AND LEAD ORPHAN AUDITIONS ARE NOW DUE BY NOVEMBER 30TH 2024.
Call-backs for acting will be done the week of December 2nd - 8th 2024.
Children wishing to audition for a dance role only will still need to attend the scheduled auditions on December 8th. The dance auditions will take place from 11.00am-12.00pm at the NAPA Studios - 3 Stevenson ct, Burleigh Heads. Senior auditions will also take place this day.
NON-AUDITION ROLES - All performers are welcome at Summer School! If your child does not wish to audition, they will automatically join the Orphan Ensemble.
PART TIME DANCE PROGRAM
We are so excited to be offering a part-time dance program for students aged 12+ in 2025. This will be offered in affiliation with Empowerdance, and students will be able to complete a Cert I, II or II in Dance (age dependant). Students will attend a full day of classes each Wednesday that will include classes required to complete the chosen certificate in dance, but we will also have bonus classes in acting and group singing, specialising in harmony work. This is the perfect program for our younger students who are working towards attending NAPA College in their senior years and has been a great pathway for many of our current College students.
APPLICATIONS CLOSE 1 NOVEMBER 2024
NEW FLOORS
Our new floors are looking amazing and I’m so grateful to the P&F for their continued assistance in creating a home away from home for our cherubs. The P&F committee are integral to the running of the studio, and they are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that NAPA is a safe, comfortable, and fun place for our kids.
FROM THE P&F - GLOW STICK DISCO
Seven more sleeps until the Glow Stick Disco!! Sunday, 6 October from 6pm - 9pm at NAPA. With a public holiday the next day, it’s the perfect night to celebrate!
Parents - the bar will be open, so feel free to hang out and mingle with other NAPA parents or use the time to go for a kid free night out!
Please note, the disco is for NAPA students only, but NAPA siblings are welcome.
Have a great week everyone!
Kim and The NAPA Team
What a huge few weeks it has been at NAPA! Our competition season has certainly kept us busy, and we are incredibly proud of the way our students have represented the studio. Beyond the results, it has been wonderful to see the growth, teamwork, resilience and support for one another that comes from getting out on stage and putting all that hard work into practice. A massive congratulations to every student who performed, and a big thank you to our teachers and families for everything that goes on behind the scenes to make these weeks possible.
And there is certainly no slowing down just yet! We are now heading into an exciting few weeks of productions, with Bring It On and The Jungle Book Kids both getting ready to hit the stage. There is so much happening across the studio, and we can’t wait to see all of that rehearsal-room work come to life!
A little reminder as we head into production season: there will be some changes to our regular timetable during production weeks to accommodate rehearsals, performances and staff commitments. Please keep a close eye on your emails and studio correspondence, as we will communicate any class changes, cancellations or adjustments as early as possible.
It’s a busy time of year, but also one of our favourites with lots of opportunities to perform, learn, support our NAPA friends and celebrate what our students have been working towards. Thank you, as always, for staying on top of communication and for being part of our wonderful NAPA community.
Now, onto this week’s news!
