Directors Note

It has been such a joy bringing The Jungle Book KIDS to life with this wonderful group of young performers.

One of the things I really wanted to focus on with this production was making it feel like a true team effort. Rather than having our performers disappear backstage between scenes, we’ve kept the children on stage for almost the entire show. They are constantly part of the world of the jungle  watching the story unfold, reacting, singing, dancing and supporting one another. It means there really is nowhere to hide, and they have had to learn to stay focused, engaged and in character throughout the whole performance!

Considering how young many of our cast members are, I think what they have achieved is incredibly impressive. They have learned songs, choreography, lines, blocking and stagecraft, while also learning one of the most important parts of theatre, how to work together as an ensemble.

Most importantly, we have had so much fun putting this show together. I hope you can see that joy when they perform today. I am so proud of every single child on this stage. They have worked hard, supported each other and grown throughout the process.
