NAPA News - Week 2, Term 1, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
What a great first week we have had! So many lovely new faces trying out our classes! We hope you had an awesome time getting to know your teachers and made new friends as well as learning some valuable performance techniques.
WEEK 2 - PARENTS MEET + GREET / Q+A SESSIONS
Week 2 is our Meet & Greet week. This week, if you arrive 10 minutes prior to when your child’s class ends, you will be invited by the teacher to come into the studio to meet them, find out a bit about their background and what they will offer this year. Hopefully, there will be time for some Q&A. We won’t be able to go over time as another class will follow. This is mainly for new parents or for parents whose child is starting a different class this year. It’s important that parents know who their child’s teacher is, what they look like and a little about them. Parent/teacher relationship is important in working together to provide a supportive partnership to bring out the best in your child.
UNIFORMS
ORDER CUT OFF - 20 FEBRUARY
Just a reminder that the cut-off date for ordering uniforms is 20 February. You can order uniforms this from your portals from the online shop. We will not be placing another order after this as it takes too long to get here and there is a minimum amount we have to order for each item, so we can’t order the odd item. A size chart is provided by the manufacturer and is on the online shopping page. Some winter stock will be ordered at a later date in the basic range, which can be ordered more frequently. Performance Team students please check our uniform requirements on our website in Performance Team Guidelines as your uniform is very specific. Musical Theatre classes, please ensure your child is in either dance shoes or sports shoes for dancing, no bare feet please.
DOWNTOWN
Congratulations to Kim, cast and crew on such an entertaining show. Saturday saw the closing night of a successful run of NAPA Ensemble’s ‘Downtown: The Mod Musical’. It was a very special production with us having so many of our teachers in the show as well as some of our senior students and graduates. We love giving lots of opportunities for our NAPA community to perform and feel blessed that we can when places like Broadway and West End are closed.
PRODUCTIONS
NAPA is a production-based company where we believe that students learn by not only focussed, skill-building lessons, but also by learning through performing. Our teachers/directors are mindful of teaching as they direct productions. All students are in a production, whether it be a musical, play, dance concert or a FTV screening night. Dates and productions will be announced once we decide on the best productions suited for each group, when we attain the licence to perform that particular production, and when the dates are decided to work into our Playbill. Our outstanding standard of productions are highly regarded on the Gold Coast, so please book to see as many of our performances you can throughout the year. We promise a great night out.
NAPA P & F
New parents please make sure you join our P & F Facebook page as lots of news comes your way from here. We are still looking for helpers in the canteen so our cherubs can purchase food between classes. If you can help out, even if it’s only an hour a week, please contact Janneth (our President) [email protected]
TIMETABLE
Please regularly check the timetable on the website as this can change at any time due to class numbers or to cater for various needs. We always check with parents before making any changes to certain classes. Hip Hop has now changed its times for convenience to families.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private Lessons are now nearly fully booked. Zane our Boys Crew Hip Hop/Acro teacher is available for privates now if any boys would like private lessons. David our singing teacher has two slots Tuesday at 4pm and 4.30pm; Kim has a dance private available on Tuesday at 4pm and Jackie our singing teacher has three slots Saturday 12.30, 1.30 and 2.00 pm. We are excited to offer a 6-week intensive acting course for adults with professional actor Scott Johnson. This is an incredible opportunity for performers to their skills to the next level. The course starts on Wednesday, 17 February. Please pass this information or link to anyone wanting to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and would benefit from this fantastic course.
2020 STUDENTS - CERTIFICATES FOR COLLECTION
Although we do not present trophies to students who did not attend the award evening, we do keep the certificates for those who could not attend. These are at reception if you wish to collect them. Also, Christmas decorations from the tree are also at reception if you want to pick them up, otherwise we will keep them for next Christmas.
