NAPA News - Week 3, Term 3, 2024

Another week of success! Students continued to achieve great results at Gold Coast Eisteddfod solos, our Vocal Concert was a hit and our Pre-Senior actors are preparing for their performance of ‘The Con’.

Gold Coast Eisteddfod

A massive congratulations to all of our dance soloists who competed over the past 2 weeks. We are so proud of your success on and off the stage. The special overall awards were presented on Tuesday, and we were delighted to see so many NAPA cherubs rewarded.

Courtney Sutherland and Jasmine Andrews - tied for Senior Runner-Up Grand Champion

Lacey Reeves - Encouragement Award

Luan Fitzgerald - Most Entertaining Solo 13+

Dakota Chanel - Junior Grand Champion and Most Outstanding Song & Dance Solo 12&U

Dakota was also the winner of the first ever Musical Theatre Show-off section. Participants took part in a class with professional musical theatre performer Euan Doidge and then performed a solo for judge Leah Howard (Resident Director - Tina the Musical). We were proud sponsors of this new section and Dakota has won a scholarship to our Summer School, along with other prizes including a session with our very own amazing photographer Trina Power. Well done, Dakota!

VOCAL CONCERT

Congratulations to all of our vocalists who performed at the concert. Some sang for the first time in front of an audience and some for the first time with a microphone. It was a lovely, relaxed, and supportive environment for our vocalists, who have all shown such growth in their singing. It was also a great practice for some of our students who will compete in the vocal sections at Gold Coast Eisteddfod in the coming weeks. A big thank you to all of our vocal teachers for your continued support of our students. Well done cherubs!

The Con

Not long now until our first play of the year hits the stage! Our Pre-Senior Tread the Boards students are working hard alongside Miss Amy to bring this fun play to life. We can’t wait to see you all shine! Some tickets are still available. Get in quick!

Food Truck

The food truck was a hit at the Vocal Concert, and we’re excited to continue to include this service at future events. Thank you to Clint Bryant and family from Food Gods Catering. What an excellent addition to our night!

Miss kim in melbourne

I was lucky enough to enjoy a few days in Melbourne this week and I had the pleasure of seeing our students and graduates perform in various musicals. Wednesday night I saw Cru in Beauty and the Beast. What an amazing performance! You were brilliant as ‘Chip’ cherub, and I was so impressed with your performance. I then was lucky enough to see Wicked again on Thursday (my 5th visit to the Emerald City!) with Courtney Monsma as Glinda. Then I could not resist my 6th visit on Friday when I found out that Emily Monsma would play Glinda at that performance. How lucky am I! Both girls are such talented performers, and my heart is so full seeing them both live their dreams. I was also treated to another backstage tour. Seeing all of the different theatres backstage is so interesting and I love to check out how they do things differently in each space. What a treat!

Have a great week everyone!

Kim and The NAPA Team
