NAPA News - Week 5, Term 2, 2023

Dear NAPA Families,

We hope you all had a well-deserved fabulous Mother’s Day yesterday and were spoilt by our cherubs.

Mother’s Day Raffle Winners

Thank you to our NAPA P&F Executive Team for organising the Mother’s Day raffle, and thank you to our donators of prizes and everyone who supported the raffle. Congratulations to the winners Amy Qin and Kathleen Deleon Jones’s mum, Espie.

Performance Teams

Wishing the Performance Teams all the best for their first competition this weekend at Evolution. We can’t wait to see you all shine on stage and see all your hard work on these routines come to life! Enjoy every moment!

2023 Productions

These are all listed on our website, but we frequently get asked for dates of shows. Attached is a list of all our productions this year for you to print off or save somewhere for easy reference if this is of help with organisation. We announce in the newsletter when tickets are released for sale for upcoming shows, which I am about to do in the next news item.

Tickets on Sale Tuesday

On Tuesday 16th May, tickets will go on sale for our musical Cats and our Performance Team Concert. Tickets sell out fast here at NAPA so don’t miss out.

Finding Nemo Jr Cast Announcement

Congratulations to our littlest Broadway cherubs on the cast of Finding Nemo Jr which is to be staged in November.

RAD Ballet Dancers

RAD Ballerinas please note that here is a link for the upcoming RAD GC workshop for RAD 4/5/IF/I and Advanced 1 girls who know their work and wish to participate in exams this year. Children must know their work before attending these workshops, so it is important you check with Miss Corina if you are ready for these workshops.

Subject: RAD Gold Coast Winter Syllabus Intensive 2023 Tickets, Signature Dance, Currumbin Waters | TryBooking Australia

Some children have been checking out U-tube workshops, but they are not always the required standard. For parents who want to help their children with the work, please check out this link. It helps their knowledge and confidence plus helps me correlate their ballet vocabulary through books they bring to class weekly.

Lost Property

For only 4 weeks of the term, we have a lot of lost property. We have moved the rack into reception from the games room as considering how long lost property stays on the rack it doesn’t seem to have been checked regularly in the previous location. We will trial having it in reception to see if it is accessed more frequently. Here are the pictures of what we currently have. Please note that valuable and small items are at the reception desk. Any items not collected by the end of this week will be given away to charity or thrown out.

Parents, please pass on this message

This message is for our Primary school aged students. At NAPA we like students to feel at home and have lots of fun in and out of class. To help accomplish this aim we buy indoor and outdoor games for them to play. However, the lack of respect for these items is very disheartening.  We constantly have to pick up equipment just left wherever they were playing with them. It is also sad to see parents who are nearby do not remind the children to pick up after themselves. The worst part has been seeing kids purposely destroying equipment such as smashing tennis rackets and skipping rope handles on the concrete, intentionally throwing balls outside or on top or behind the big storage container, and the list goes on. These actions have been witnessed by staff and parents. We are constantly buying new items to replace the broken ones. It is time to take action. Please discuss with your child:

  • to respect and care for our equipment

  • to put games away neatly back to where they belong when they have finished playing with them

  • not to throw balls outside of the gate or on top or behind the storage container

  • no eating in the games room

NB – if there is no improvement in the treatment of our games and games room we will withdraw the games from use for a period of time until they can demonstrate a more respectful approach to our games and venue.

On a happier note, have a wonderful week everyone.

Cheers,
Lynn & the NAPA Team
