Staff Change for Pre-Senior FTV + Acting for Stage and Screen

We are sad to say “goodbye” to our wonderful FTV teacher Jordyn Tomars due to her moving to Canada in pursuit of her career as a screen actor. We wish her a wonderful career ahead.  Although we have had a few changes of teachers for these classes, it is the result of us selecting teachers who are current working professionals, and this means that sometimes these teachers will need to leave when they are working away from the Gold Coast. There is a real positive side to this in the sense that students will have the opportunity to learn a variety of current industry processes and learn from each mentor to create their own approach to the craft. In line with making sure our FTV students have current industry professionals as their teachers, we have employed two teachers, Lily Boisvert who is currently working in a movie being shot on the Gold Coast so won’t be available until term 4, and Michael Bishop, who is available for the rest of term 3 before he flies off to Canada for filming Season 4 of Superman and Lois. Michael was one of our graduates who has been with us since an early age and is now a professional FTV actor. Michael and Lily are working together to create a great learning experience for our students. Welcome to our NAPA teaching staff Michael and Lily.

MICHAEL BISHOP

Michael is best known for starring in CW’s Superman and Lois as Jon Kent, the son of Superman, and playing Max in the Disney Channel original movie, Spin. Working alongside great talents such as Tyler Hoechlin, Meera Syal, Abhay Deol, Emmanuel Chriqui and Tom Cavanagh; Michael has a wealth of experience behind him. The NAPA College graduate is excited to be back on his old stomping grounds during Term 3 and guide the new generation of cherubs toward their wildest dreams.

LILY BOISVERT

Lily Boisvert grew up in Perth and relocated to the Gold Coast to study Film and Television at Bond. Lily started acting at Filmbites Acting School in Perth at the age of 8, and spent nine years there, learning a variety of skills in auditioning, self-taping, scene work (Brecht, Meisner, Adler, Stanislavski), acting for commercials, acting for the stage and mostly, acting for the screen. She has worked alongside her agent and manager for the last few years, building a CV and gaining experience auditioning for pilots and films for Australia, America and the UK.

Recent Past Student Successes

Whilst on the subject of past student successes as seen by Michael’s bio, here are some other past graduates updates.

Elysium Hipwood

We were excited this week to have a surprise visit from Elysium who is currently at WAAPA after graduating from NAPA College last year. Elysium has been at NAPA since being a young age. It was gratifying to hear that NAPA has prepared her so well for her studies in Musical Theatre at WAAPA. She stated that it made the transition a smooth one as she had established hard work ethics and used to undertaking the type of assessments work required.

Courtney + EMILY Monsma

You may have seen Courtney singing the national anthem beautifully at the State of Origin and already know that she is playing Glinda in the current professional performance of Wicked. It is exciting to hear that her sister Emily Monsma (also a NAPA Graduate) has now been cast in the ensemble of Wicked and is Courtney’s understudy – such a wonderful sisterly experience! Congratulations Emily!

We are also very proud of the following students who have recently gained the following work. Well done cherubs!

Vending Machine

Parents, please have a chat to your children about the use of our vending machine. We have had issues with it, only to find that someone has stuck hair pins in the money slots. It is important that our students show respect for all of our equipment and our facilities as this type of thing happens frequently. Some things we see on a daily basis that shows disrespect is quite heart breaking at times. Parents who stay on our premises whilst waiting for their children, please may I ask you to keep an eye on any children near you to make sure they are doing the ‘right’ thing. A gentle reminder is usually all that they need.

Have a fabulous week everyone,

Lynn & the NAPA Team
