NAPA News - Week 1, Term 3, 2023

Dear NAPA Families,

We hope you all had a lovely holiday. From what we have heard, many of you went overseas – that’s awesome! What great memories you must have created. Hard work and exciting times are ahead as we begin Semester 2, our big production time!

Opening Week of Cats

Chookas to our cast and crew of our first musical of the year, Cats! This production by our Broadway Bound Extension class promises to be an exceptional performance of this well-known musical written by the renowned Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show has been sold out for a few weeks and unfortunately, we have no space in the calendar to add any more shows. We need more weeks in a year! If you were lucky enough to have obtained a ticket – enjoy!

Tickets on Sale for Fairy Tale Misfits

Our Pre-Senior Tread the Boards students and Director Jane Irvine are doing a wonderful job on their play Fairy Tale Misfits. This hilarious play is being performed on Saturday 5 August at 7.30pm and Sunday, 6 August at 2pm. Tickets will be go on sale from Tuesday, 18th July, so come and enjoy this funny play.

Thank you NAPA P&F

Lots of happy faces this Saturday were evident as our NAPA families enjoyed a free barbecue sausage. Thank you to our NAPA P&F for providing and cooking these – it was a huge hit.

The P&F are currently seeking support in the donation of prizes for our raffles for our upcoming production of Cats. If you can help with this, please drop off your donations at reception. Funds raised from the raffles go straight towards improving facilities and resources for our students that are not covered by fees.

Signage Help Needed

Our NAPA sign at the front of our building is sadly looking worse for wear. We are hoping we can afford to have a new one so will obtain some quotes. As we always like to support our NAPA family businesses, I would like to check in with you all first before getting outside quotes. If anyone does these, could you please email Laurie: [email protected] so we can get a quote from you before checking other businesses.

Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser

As many of you know, our sweet NAPA cherub Alba Scott underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour last year and had many months staying at the Ronald McDonald House with her mum Vonny, whilst she underwent rehabilitation at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Alba always said that as soon as she could walk, she wanted to raise money for the House to thank them and pay it forward. So, to make this dream come true Vonny has been in touch with an event organiser who runs a Halloween walk/run and has to do the 2km Halloween Spooky Walk on Oct 28th this year in order to raise money for this amazing charity.

Alba would love some people to do the walk with her or to raise awareness and sponsorship.

The event will be a lot of fun. It is a Halloween dress up plus prizes for the best dressed, arts, crafts, jumping castles and a fire show as well as lollies for the kids and food and drink trucks to enjoy an evening afterwards. A great way to raise money and have fun with the family at Halloween 🎃  Details are attached in the link below and there is a discount code to join them: TEAMALBA
