NAPA News - Week 9, Term 4, 2022

DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,

As Christmas gets closer, so does the end of our final term for the year.  As we are in countdown to our final events for 2022 we ask that you take careful note of the information contained in our newsletter as we are frequently inundated with questions that have been addressed in the newsletters. I am sure everyone is busy at this time of the year, and we make it a bit busier for you with all our great events, so it is hard to absorb all the information we are sending, but please try and stay on top of the upcoming requirements.

LAST DAY CELEBRATION FOR OUR GRADE 10/11 COLLEGE STUDENTS

Last Thursday was the final day of the academic year for our College students in Grades 10 & 11. We traditionally celebrate this with an outing, so we went bowling, played Putt Putt and had a lunch out. It was great fun not only for the kids but for Kim, David and myself as well. Please note that we will have our ‘Getting to Know You’ with the new students on 25 January (more details will be sent out in January) and our new students will have their Orientation Day on 24 January. Please note this is a different date to that in the handbook.

FILM & TV SCREENING SESSIONS

These were such enjoyable sessions. It was great to see the FTV students perform on the big screen.  The footage contained self-devised pieces by our students which was filmed and edited by their teachers.  A big thank you goes out to our teachers Tim Carroll, Jemma Kuchel and Ryan Littler for their great work. Following the screening session, we had our FTV Awards presentation.

INSIDE OUT PERFORMANCE

CHOOKAS, to all our Dance students and teachers for their performance of Inside Out dance concert being staged at HOTA on Friday, 2 December at 7pm. There are still tickets left if anyone hasn’t grabbed theirs yet – you can purchase these from the HOTA website. It is always a fabulous night out even if your child isn’t in the concert. It’s also a great opportunity for parents and students who are thinking of enrolling into dance next year to see what a great learning experience it is. This concert is not just for our dancers’ families, it is open to everyone who loves being entertained.

MINIS CONCERT

CHOOKAS, to our Minis (Mini Tap, Mini Ballet, Mini Tech, Mini Acro, Mummy and Me, 6's Performance Team and Primary Ballet) who will be performing twice on Sunday, 4 December at 10am and 4pm at our very own Broadway Theatre. They will have a rehearsal at 10am on Saturday, 3 December. Tickets can be purchased from our website via the button below. Please note that this age group have their Awards straight after their 4pm performance so do not need to come to the following week’s ceremonies.

TUESDAY CLASSES

Please note these classes will be cancelled this Tuesday due to all the extra rehearsals. We are also cancelling Broadway Bound on that night as the majority of these students are in the Dance concert as well. We are conscious of resting these tired bodies so they can recover in readiness for the final rehearsals.

AWARDS CEREMONIES

I have had a few questions regarding these, so I will communicate the information again so everyone is on board with this. We have TWO Awards ceremonies; the Junior (which are all Primary School students) and Senior (which are High School students). For Performance Team students who dance in a class above their age, they need to attend the Awards Ceremony that correlates to their school grade i.e. Primary or High School. These awards are for all students doing Musical Theatre, Tread the Boards, Junior Acting for Stage & Screen and Dance classes (not Minis).

We will be having a rehearsal for all students for the Awards nights, so it runs smoothly as to how they receive their awards. Please note all students get a certificate so we like to see them all there. If a student is not at rehearsal, we will remove their award from the pile so we are not calling out names of children not present at the Awards. Following the rehearsal, we will have a Christmas break-up celebration by having a barbecue of hamburgers and conduct a few celebratory activities. We would love all of our students to come to the rehearsal/break-up party in anything Christmassy.

The Junior Awards rehearsal will be on Tuesday, 6 December from 4-7.00pm and their Awards ceremony is on Friday 9 December from 6.30pm to approx. 8.30pm

The Senior Awards rehearsal will be on Wednesday 7 December from 4-7.00pm and their Awards ceremony on Saturday 10 December from 6.30pm to approx. 8.30pm.

PLEASE NOTE: we have changed the rehearsal finishing time to 7pm – my last communication had 7.30 but we think the rehearsal won’t go as long as first thought.

HELP NEEDED FOR AWARDS REHEARSALS

As we will be busy with the rehearsal of the awards ceremonies it will be hard for us to get the barbecue ready. We would love some parents to run this for us. If you can help in anyway, could you please contact Lynn DyerIt would be a load off our minds if someone could actually organise the purchase of the food and some helpers in preparing it. We think that we will be ready for the kids to eat around 5.30pm.

GETTING READY FOR NEXT YEAR

Our 2023 Timetable will be uploaded onto our website on 1 December. Fee schedules will be emailed out as we don’t put these on our website. Please note that our first day back in Term 1, 2023 is Monday, 30 January. From 1 December you can pay your $35 Registration fee for 2023 and start enrolling into classes. Please ensure all fees for 2022 have been paid otherwise you can’t register for 2023. We do work on an honesty policy, where we hand out costumes and links to videos and photos to everyone in shows, and deliver lessons to all in classes with the trust that you will pay class, costume and media fees. It would be great if all outstanding fees will be paid by the end of next week so we can start a fresh in 2023.

LOST PROPERTY

Despite my photos last newsletter hardly anything has been picked up from our lost property rack and the amount of items has grown not lessoned! Please check these at your earliest convenience as they will be removed next week.

Have a fun week everyone
