NAPA News - Week 7, Term 4, 2022

DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,

With so much happening at NAPA at this time of the year, we can understand the confusion for some people, especially for those of you who are new this year, as to what is going on. Despite every date of everything we do for the year is put on our Calendar on our website at the start of the year, I thought it might be helpful to devote this newsletter to listing all the upcoming events and the requirements of these. In this way we are all on the same page and no one misses out on what is on offer.  So here goes!

RUDOLPH SUCCESS

A huge congratulations to our adorable Broadway Kids and their teachers for a great performance. They each displayed excellent character work and confidence that provided an abundance of entertainment for the audiences. Thank you to all of the  backstage helpers, all those who helped bump-out and to all of you who took home washing tubs. The washing can come back when the kids return for their last lesson 26 November. Please note that next week is a rest week, so no class, and we see them for their final lesson the following week.

UPCOMING PERFORMANCE OF SO YOU WANNA BE A CHEERLEADER

CHOOKAS to our Intermediate Tread the Boards Class for their performance of this very funny play, So You Wanna Be a Cheerleader, on 18-19 November. Tickets can be bought from our website. The students in this class will have a rest week on Monday the 21 November and have their last lesson on the 28 November.

JUNIOR ACTING FOR STAGE & SCREEN PRESENTATION

This class does not do a production as it’s all about learning foundation techniques of acting for stage and screen and understanding the difference. Parents are invited to observe some of their class activities on Thursday, 24 November from 4-5.30pm and awards will be given out after the presentation. Please give the students 15 minutes at the start to get organised and then we will open the doors for you. Just a reminder that this week, their class is extended until 5.30pm. The class activity demonstration next week will be the last class for this group for the year.

INTERMEDIATE, PRE-SENIOR AND SENIOR FTV SCREENING

Parents are invited to watch their child’s on-screen performance at the following sessions on Saturday 26th November:

4pm Junior Screening – this is for the Intermediate class
7pm Senior Screening – this is for the Pre-Senior and Senior classes.

This year we are not going to put a charge for tickets for this as we have not hired outside videographers. Following the screening we will be giving out their Awards rather than do this at the Awards ceremony. This is due to the fact most students in these classes do not do other classes, so it’s best to give them their awards at the Screening. However, if they do another class, they need to attend the awards ceremony.

INSIDE OUT  DANCE CONCERT

Our Dance Concert is always a highlight of the year and such a wonderful event. Hopefully you've snapped up your tickets and have encouraged family and friends to attend as the date is looming – Friday, 2nd December. It would be so lovely for the kids to have a sell-out performance. Lots of correspondence has been sent home regarding rehearsals, so please ensure you are up to date with this. A hair/make-up and footwear note will be sent home today (Monday). Dance student parents, please click here for the schedule if you have not already received it.

Please note arrival times and pick up times are different for Act 1 and Act 2 performers:

MINI CONCERT

Another highlight for our families of our youngest performers. Our Minis will be performing twice on Sunday, 4th December at 10am and 4pm. They will have a rehearsal at 10am on Saturday, 3rd December. Tickets will be on sale from TOMORROW (Tuesday, 15th November). Notes will be sent home this Saturday regarding a schedule and costume requirements for the concert. The classes performing in this concert are:

Mini Tap, Mini Ballet, Mini Tech, Mini Acro, Mummy and Me, 6's Performance Team and Primary Ballet

LAST DAY OF CLASSES

For all classes not mentioned above, our classes will round up by 1 December, this being the last day that regular classes will be held. However, we will have all students the following week for the rehearsal for the Awards ceremony.

AWARDS CEREMONIES

We have TWO Awards ceremonies; the Junior (which are all Primary School students) and Senior (which are High School students). Please note that we do have a couple of students who are over the border (with different age school requirements) and in high school but attending classes with us for primary students due to their age. If this is your child, please send them to the Awards Ceremony that their class falls into. For Performance Team students who dance in a class above their age, they need to attend the Awards Ceremony that correlates to their school grade i.e. Primary or High School.

Our Broadway Tweens will be performing at our Junior Awards and our Broadway Bound Extension class will be performing at our High School Awards. You will be contacted regarding the outfit requirements for this.

We will be having a rehearsal for all students for the Awards nights, so it runs smoothly as to how they receive their awards. Please note all students get a certificate so we like to see them all there. Following the rehearsal, we will have a Christmas break-up celebration by having a barbecue of hamburgers and conduct a few celebratory activities. We would love all of our students to come to the rehearsal/break-up party in anything Christmassy.

The Junior Awards rehearsal will be on Tuesday, 6 December from 4-7.30pm and their Awards ceremony is on Friday, 9 December from 6.30pm to approx. 8.30pm

The Senior Awards rehearsal will be on Wednesday, 7 December from 4-7.30pm and their Awards ceremony on Saturday, 10 December from 6.30pm to approx. 8.30pm.

2023 TIMETABLE

We have had many enquiries regarding our 2023 Timetable. This will be on our website on the 1 December and enrolments will be open for 2023 from that date.

Wow, after listing all of these events, I suddenly feel very tired, so will sign off. Enjoy our last few weeks everyone!

Cheers,
Lynn & the NAPA Team
