NAPA News - Week 1, Term 1, 2024

Dear NAPA Families,

We are NAPA READY to start off on Monday for another year of incredible training and performances! May your child enjoy the NAPA experience that will bring them an abundance of joy and development in so many ways.

Happy 2024!

A big welcome to our new families and welcome back to our last year’s students. We send out a newsletter each week, so to get the best out of NAPA it is important you stay informed by reading our newsletter each week. Current information is communicated to you by the newsletter and the website, so please become familiar with these forms of communication. Trina Power works hard in setting these out and providing links so you can easily access what applies to you rather than having to read through lots of information to find what is relevant to you. Hover over the Youth Program tab above to see all the information you require. For information regarding all NAPA’s processes, please check the 2024 Parent Handbook, which is also in the Youth Program section of our website.

Uniforms

To get an understanding of our uniform policy, please go to our website and read through the information regarding uniform requirements.  Please note that Performance Team students need to follow the instructions accurately.  All other dance students are encouraged to also wear NAPA uniform, if they don’t, they need to be in black dance attire. Following these guidelines, prepares them for the industry and builds a cohesive spirit and pride. Dance uniforms are from Activated Industries and once orders are finalised, they take 6-8 weeks to arrive, hence why we only do one order at the start of the year.

Students who are not dance students are encouraged to purchase a NAPA T-shirt from our Basic Range which only takes a couple of weeks. When cooler weather approaches, we will open up the online store for sweatshirts and jackets.

Please take note of the process of ordering:

  • Check the website to see what you want to order.

  • Check the sizing chart or pop into reception to try on some sizes that we may have still in stock. You won’t be able to buy these as we need them for people to try on. Once we finalise the orders, if we have any sizes you ordered in stock, we will distribute them. All other orders will be available hopefully by the end of term.

  • For those looking for second hand uniforms and dance shoes, please check reception where we have a few or check the NAPA GOLD COAST BUY SWAP SELL Facebook Group where some parents are selling uniforms that their children have grown out of.

  • Place your order online by 14th February (Valentine’s Day). Once sent, we can’t take more orders as they have a minimum amount for each item, so we can’t just order 1 or 2 items. We need to finalise the orders as early as we can so we receive them as early as possible.

Production Dates

Production dates are a difficult one to release at the start of the year as it depends on the availability of productions and fitting them all in the second half of the year. We are not allowed to announce dates until we have scored the Rights to perform. The ones we have gained the Performance Rights for can now be released. These are as follows:

BROADWAY BOUND EXTENSION
JULY 11-14

BROADWAY TWEENS
SEPTEMBER 12-15

BROADWAY BOUND

BROADWAY KIDS

More dates will be announced and put onto our website calendar when confirmed.

Acro Grading Levels 1, 2 + 3

Thank you to all those who attended the grading session on Thursday. This was so beneficial to ensure all students are placed in the class that is best suited to their skill level and ensure they develop at a good pace throughout the year. Emails have been sent regarding placement in classes and all students have been moved into their appropriate classes in your parent portal. Any student who could not make it will be graded in Week 1 of classes.

Performance Team Auditions

Placements have now been offered to all students who auditioned for 2024 Performance Teams. If you missed auditions and are interested in joining, please email [email protected]. Senior small group teams will be confirmed after auditions on Wednesday. These classes will be closed off at end of February to ensure a smooth rehearsal period for our first competition.

Project Broadway Lost Property

Our reception has a stand for all lost property. There was a lot left over from children doing Project Broadway in the holidays. We will rehome these items to the Salvation Army store at the end of this week if they have not been collected, as we need to empty the rack ready for the start of term when lost property is collected on a daily basis. Please ensure to check this stand if your child did this workshop.

Big Welcome to our New College Students

The 2024 cohort had a great Orientation Day of getting to know each other, attending a mental health seminar, followed by a lovely lunch out then finishing off with a fun afternoon at Bounce. Wishing them all a successful year ahead!
