NAPA News - Week 1, Term 1, 2022
WELCOME TO ANOTHER YEAR OF CREATIVITY AT NAPA
A big WELCOME to our new families, it is great to have you join us in 2022. Welcome back to all our existing students and their families, I am sure you are getting excited for another great year at NAPA. We also welcome our new teachers! Please check out our outstanding teachers on our website under About NAPA – Our Staff.
A newsletter is sent out to you each week so you can keep informed as to all upcoming events. It is important you read this thoroughly. We try to communicate information in a way you can easily locate what applies to you. For specific class information, emails are sent out. To promote various events or communicate information as it’s happening, we use Facebook. So please join our NAPA Facebook page and our NAPA P&F Group. The P&F Group enables parents to communicate to each other, regarding questions you may have. Our website has all information regarding current timetables, staff, calendar dates, class descriptions, performance team guidelines, uniform guidelines, and lots more. When you go to our website, click on the drop-down box and specific information regarding our Youth Program is under that heading. Our Parent Handbook is also located here for all the policies and procedures you need to know.
We haven’t been able to put up our entire 2022 Calendar dates as we are still waiting for HOTA to confirm our Dance Concert date. We did not want to release all our dates until this was confirmed as we need to space productions back from that date. However, seeing we have already been waiting for this confirmation from HOTA for a month, we can’t wait any longer as I am sure you are all wanting to organise your year ahead and are waiting to find out when the productions are on, so we will go with the dates as planned and have released these dates up to December rather than wait any longer. Once we have a confirmed Concert date, we can let you know our Award Ceremonies and our FTV Screening Sessions which all occur in December. Now we are confirming dates and we meet our students in the first week, we will apply for the rights of different productions that best suits the needs of our students. This will take a few weeks for confirmation but it’s very exciting when we announce them.
PLEASE CHECK TERM 1 TIMETABLE
Also, a quick reminder to double check the Term 1 Timetable currently on our website (updated 25 January) to ensure you are ready for Week One Classes and we’re all operating off the same schedule. While the majority of it remained unchanged over the break, there were a few minor tweaks.
COVID MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES
Please also take a moment to make yourself familiar with the current COVID Management guidelines that surround our operation as a studio, and also as a performance venue.
STARTUP WEEK
Our week prior to starting back this week was busy with auditions for Performance Teams, our Broadway Bound Extension production of Chicago, our College Orientation Day and a College Getting to Know You Barbecue at the Broadwater Parklands where our College kids got to know each other very well playing on the Aqua Park. Welcome to our new College students – get ready for a life changing experience.
OVER THE BREAK
Our students were busy over the Christmas break with cherubs performing nightly in Movie World’s White Christmas Parades, our Performance Teams competing at Get the Beat Finals and our Acro students completing their Acrolink exams. Our teams did exceptionally well across the board, with our 12's team taking out Highest Scoring Junior Group with their Lyrical routine. Our soloists also did exceptionally well, and we are so proud of all their success!
WATER COOLER
Thank you to the P&F and raffle sponsors who have made it possible for a water cooler for cherubs to fill their water bottles throughout the week. Our cherubs work hard, and require frequent refills of fresh water, so this is a much-welcomed addition to the NAPA facilities.
UNIFORM ORDERS
Uniforms can now be ordered from our Online Shop in your Portals. You can go straight to your portal or go to the website where you can see images, size charts and a link to order from your portal. Uniform information is also in your handbook. Unfortunately Activated Industries (our suppliers) have put up their prices, so you will notice a slight increase. These uniforms are ordered from overseas, so it takes eight weeks to get here, therefore we need to have orders completed by the end of Week 3 so that our Performance Team students have them ready for the competitions. We do have some second-hand uniforms and shoes at reception but not a lot. We also have a Buy Swap and Sell Facebook Group for parents wanting to sell outgrown uniforms and parents wanting second-hand ones. We will be having a special uniform for our students in the Mini classes, we will send information out to you soon regarding this.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are available at NAPA, however, Greta, Jackie and David have no more free spaces. Singing has been a popular request this year, so if you are seeking Singing lessons please contact me ([email protected]) and I will put your child on the waiting list, and once we have a few, I will employ another Singing teacher to suit our needs. Greta now has a waiting list also. Requests for Dance Privates please email Kim ([email protected]). Private lessons are $40 for half an hour and are paid directly to the teacher.
For our new families, there is a lot to digest in the first few weeks, but you will soon get the swing of things as you become more informed.
Have an awesome first week everyone!
Lynn
