NAPA News - Week 2, Term 1, 2022

DEAR PARENTS,

WOW what a first week! So many new and eager faces, along with a few nervous ones, and of course our last year’s students were so excited to be back. If you are new, I hope your child enjoyed their classes this week. The first week can be a bit daunting, especially with so many trialling, the numbers were huge. However, this will settle once students have selected the classes they want to be in. Musical Theatre classes all have three teachers, so the students are divided into smaller groups for acting, singing and dance, so please don’t think we teach that many students all at once. Check out a few pictures we managed to snap during this first week.

UNIFORMS

Only 2 weeks left to order these. Our uniforms are on our website and in the Parent Handbook. Dance wear is ordered through Activated Industries and takes a couple of months to arrive, so we need to order these quickly. We do not place another order later in the year unless necessary, so it’s important you order for the whole year. Please note that this year we are allowing all children to order the Performance Team jacket (which in the past was only allowed for Performance Team students). This news will be welcome to our cherubs for the winter months ahead. Students only doing acting are best to order the NAPA T-shirts and, in the winter, you can purchase a hoody. These orders are locally produced so we will do a winter order later on. Please note that for all classes, please ensure hair is tied back off their faces. Acting and Musical Theatre students, please ensure they are wearing enclosed, comfortable to move type footwear.  No thongs or sandals please as these effect the movement work.

PRIVATE LESSONS

The teachers who have opened for privates have filled their spaces. Singing is very popular this year so we have employed another teacher, Keiarn Chesebro. Keiarn is a graduate from the New York University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Music Theatre. She has extensive training in voice, vocal pedagogy, music theory and music history. We have four spaces left with Keiarn, these are Saturdays from 10-10.30am, 12.30-1.00pm, 1.30-2.00pm and 2.00-2.30pm.

We also have added Private Acting sessions open with Acting teachers Claudine Anderson and Veronica Wnuk. These are as follows:

Claudine – Mondays 5.30-6.00; 6.00-6.30pm; 6.30-7.00pm

Veronica – Saturdays 10.30 – 11.00am 11.00-11.30am; 1.30-2.00pm; 2.00-2.30pm.

If you would like to snatch up one of these acting or singing spots, please email me with your first and second preference [email protected]  First in will get the first selection.

AMAZING ACRO EXAM RESULTS

Some of our students sat their first ever Acro exam over the holidays and all received fantastic results! Congratulations to Lalita who scored the highest mark in the country, earning a diamond score (98 and above). Well done cherubs! Our Acro students train the ACROLINK syllabus, which was created by our resident Acro teacher Miss Greta Brinsley. We are so lucky to have Greta training our students! Acro classes for 2022 are nearly full, so ensure you have enrolled before they are closed off.

CLOSING OFF ENROLMENTS

Due to the high numbers in our Musical Theatre classes, we have closed off enrolments. If you were trialling and can now enrol into the class, please email Laurie [email protected]

Performance Team enrolments have also been closed. If you are keen to enrol, please email Kim [email protected]

CALENDAR DATES

HOTA has finally confirmed our dates for our Dance Concert, so we have now confirmed all dates for 2022 performances. Please check our Calendar on our website and ensure you keep the dates of your child’s productions and events free.

Have a fabulous week everyone. I know I will, as my daughter who is a performer in New York has just arrived home for a visit and surprised me, so apologies in advanced if this newsletter seems rushed or has lots of errors in it – I’m still in shock!

Lynn
