NAPA News - Week 3, Term 1, 2022

DEAR PARENTS,

Classes are now settling into their routines after their introductory first week. It’s great to see those nervous new ones from last week return this week with excited faces. Feedback from teachers about our 2022 cohort has been wonderful; they are really looking forward to what they can achieve with their students this year.

LAST WEEK FOR UNIFORM ORDERS

We will be closing our online store for orders on Monday 21st February, so please ensure you have ordered your uniforms by then. The size chart is on there, so please measure your child and match the sizing you need. We find with Activated Industry dance wear, they tend to be on the smaller side than regular sizing, so lean towards the bigger size than the smaller one if you are not sure which to go with. Performance Team must have the uniform as specified in the handbook, so please ensure you have ordered by the 21st.  Parents ordering the basic range of T-shirts and Boys Crew attire, your order won’t take as long as the dance wear.  When the items arrive, I will announce this in the newsletter, and you will be able to pick your order up from reception.

COVID Isolation Mandates

As the inevitable influx of Covid cases makes its way throughout the community, it is important that you are aware of the current mandates surrounding isolation for those with COVID-19 and their close household contacts, and returning to dance/College. Following these guidelines will help to keep classes running at full capacity and with limited disruptions to productions. OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MANDATES ARE HERE - but here is the general gist.

If you test positive for COVID-19 (either RAT or PCR), you must immediately isolate at home for seven full days, with the day of the test being day zero. All members of your household must also isolate for the full 7 days and they must test again on Day 6. The initial diagnosed person who tested positive does not need to test again on Day 6 (because their test will indicate positive for the next four weeks regardless), and providing they do not have a fever or acute respiratory symptoms (besides a light post-viral cough), they can exit isolation after the full seven 24-hour periods have lapsed.

A diagnosed person MUST WEAR A FACE MASK AT ALL TIMES outside the home for seven days after the end of isolation when unable to remain physically distant from persons other than household members.

If within the seven days of isolation, another family member tests positive, the seven days resets for all remaining family members (besides the initial diagnosed person) with day zero being the day that family member took the positive test.

A close contact may leave quarantine at the end of 7 days from the date of last contact with the diagnosed person provided they do not have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, and on Day 6, a Rapid Antigen Test has produced a negative test result.

A close contact MUST WEAR A FACE MASK AT ALL TIMES outside the home for seven days after the end of isolation when unable to remain physically distant from persons other than household members.

FROZEN

As you are aware, Frozen has opened in Brisbane. Courtney Monsma, who plays the lead role of Anna was a NAPA student since being a little girl right up to when she graduated when she finished Year 12. Courtney got into the Conservatorium of Music to continue to study Musical Theatre and then since graduating from the Con. performed in Mamma Mia, Aladdin and then Six before scoring this iconic role in Frozen. NAPA students and teachers are very excited to see her perform in her home state. If you haven’t already booked your tickets, please join us by booking for the 6.30pm session on the 27 March. It’s too hard to organise a group booking with so many NAPA families but if you book for that date we will have a Meet and Greet with Courtney and some of the cast after the show. We will let you know closer to the date re the after-show organisation.
