NAPA News - Week 9, Term 4, 2021

Dear NAPA Families,

As the term draws to a close it is a great time to reflect on so many achievements over the year. We have staged four musicals, three plays, two FTV Screenings and achieved great results in all of our eisteddfods entered. Now all we have left is our Mini Dance Concert and our Neverland Dance Concert to stage as well as the last Get the Beat Finals competition for the year, held on the Sunshine Coast. In the last week of term we will celebrate and reward the achievements of our students and teachers at our Awards ceremonies. We can start looking forward to a fun and relaxing holiday.

CONGRATULATIONS FTV STUDENTS & TEACHERS

Saturday night held two FTV screening sessions which played to full houses for the Junior + Senior presentations. The work that went into these short films was exceptional. The acting was natural and engaging, which provided a great night of entertainment. Thank you to our incredible FTV teachers Hollie Andrew and Ryan Littler for all of their hard work put into this footage. Thank you also to our singing teacher David Willis (who has done television and film work himself) who featured in two of the films. Ryan’s work with special effects was perfect for our Junior students, who loved every minute of the filming and production process. We were treated by our seniors who performed scripts written by their classmates. So much talent was exhibited at these screenings in scriptwriting, performance, filming and editing. Congratulations everyone!

CHOOKAS DANCERS!

Excitement is brewing for our Neverland Concert being staged at HOTA at 7pm, Friday, 3 December.  Please ensure all notes are read thoroughly as this is a complex process with so many students involved, some in multiple dances with multiple costume changes and requirements, and different groups with different time requirements; it is important you all get it right. Dance teachers are flat out with this production, so we need everyone to do their part in ensuring the show runs without any mishaps as we only get one shot at this. This is our first concert at HOTA and we want it to be fantastic in every aspect. The notes emailed are LOCATED HERE in case anyone has missed anything. All this is worth it once you see the standard of the show.

Our Mini Concert is always a highlight of the year as there is a whole bundle of cuteness on stage. The happiness performing brings to our youngest dancers is a joy to watch. These little cherubs will be performing on Saturday, 4 December at 1pm + 6pm. Please remember parents that they will receive their awards after the 6pm show.

AWARDS REHEARSALS AND CEREMONIES

Our students and teachers deserve to be celebrated and acknowledged. All students receive a certificate which is important for resumes and forming great memories. The rehearsal is about working the seating arrangements, positioning the orders for receiving awards and how to receive the award so it is important everyone attends. We will also run through any entertainment within the ceremonies. After this it will be our break-up barbecue to celebrate the year. Thank you to the P+F who are providing some yummy hamburgers for the kids. It will be a great time for the kids to have a fun yet winding down time with their classmates.

Big raffle prizes will be raffled at these ceremonies, so don’t miss out on getting your tickets. More about this next newsletter.

Here is a reminder of times. Don’t forget to wear one or all of the Christmas colours – red, green, white or gold to get in with the theme this year.  This applies to students and their families.

2022 ENROLMENTS OPENS 1 DECEMBER 2021!

Our 2022 timetable will be available on our website from 1 December. Please note some changes to some classes that greatly benefits our students.

  • Our under 6 year olds will all be part of our NAPA Mini Program which follow the IDT and Acro link syllabus. Mini classes will now be held on Thursdays + Saturdays so that our elite and recreational classes can run along side each other for ease of transition.

  • Our Junior Tread the Boards & Junior FTV have combined together to be Junior Acting for Stage + Screen

  • Some dance classes have extended in time

  • Ballet classes are now split into casual (Tween Ballet, Junior Ballet, Senior ballet) or RAD. RAD classes are exclusively for students doing exams.

  • No Vocal Team has been included. Private singing lessons are available

The fees have been more closely aligned to a rate that reflects time period of class, complexity, number of teachers involved, and extra costs needed or equipment, insurance etc. You will find the majority of classes have dropped in price except those that have increased their time or have an added cost. There is a 5% discount for anyone who enrols in four or more classes. 10% is discounted to anyone paying a whole year up front. Please note that both these discounts can’t be used together.
