NAPA News - Week 8, Term 3, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
This has been a week of great achievements by our Performance Teams and their teachers as you have probably seen on our Facebook page! They have not only gained outstanding results at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod but the feedback from adjudicators, staff and audience members on their behaviour, their attitudes and how well they all presented themselves in their uniforms and costumes, was outstanding. At NAPA we value this as just as important as the level of performance they gave. I hope you are all feeling not only proud of these performers and their teachers but also feeling proud to be part of our NAPA Family.
Good luck to our Under 12 cherubs and small group teams competing next weekend - we are so proud of you and cannot wait to see you shine!

More to be proud of!
Sadly, with the borders still being closed we have had to recast some roles in our upcoming productions. This is heartbreaking for the children who have worked so hard in learning these roles over the last couple of terms, but unfortunately out of our hands. We are extremely proud of the students we have had to ask to step into these roles at such short notice (as we held off recasting as long as we could in the hope the border would open), who are now very busy learning lines, songs, blocking, choreography and character work for their new roles. All of them gratefully and humbly accepted their new roles. We are also proud of the rest of the cast that have had to adapt and come to extra rehearsals to ensure we achieve the best quality show possible. Parents, thank you for all your rescheduling to ensure your child attends these extra rehearsals. We are also proud of our directors, choreographers and musical directors for putting in the extra time to make the changes work. What a team effort!!!!!
Here is a picture of our 13 Musical Theatre cast enjoying a morning tea of donuts during extra rehearsals on our Show Day holiday.
Lost Property
Last week we posted in the newsletter pictures of lost property items in the hope parents would identify these items and collect them. However, the box is now overflowing with even more items, not less. Please note that lost property goes to charity at the end of the term, so please ensure you collect your items in the next two weeks before they are gone.
College Auditions
We have had lots of college applications this year. The first of the auditions will be on this Friday, 3 September. Good luck everyone who is auditioning. We have quite a few applications from NSW so these auditions will be recorded and sent to us. The development of our students’ abilities in our full-time program has been incredible. It also makes us feel so proud of the happiness we bring to these students by them doing what they love whilst completing their senior educational studies. The positive changes and growth we have seen in each and every student, makes all the hard work attached to this program, worth it.
Next week is the opening of Into the Woods performed by our extension Broadway Bound students, directed by Hollie Andrews, choreographed by Kim Reynolds and Musically Directed by David Willis. There are not many seats left, so make sure you book before you miss out. Dates of the performances are: 10, 11, 17, 18 September. If you have never seen the movie here is a synopsis of the show. Enjoy!
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show that gave us the opportunity to develop our actors’ ability to perform a dark comedy immersed into elements of this magical world.
Best wishes everyone,
Lynn
