NAPA News - Week 8, Term 2, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
Only three weeks to go before the end of Term 2 with the last day of classes being 26 June. I hope you all have booked your tickets for next term’s shows that have been released for sale on our website. Some shows sell out very quickly.
A reminder that our canteen is open every afternoon from 4-5pm, and on Saturday mornings. We are now selling hot, homemade nutritious soups for $5 and also, thanks to a kind donation from Alicia Crawford, we now have a coffee machine at the canteen for parents.
Outside games have been a huge hit! It has been great to see parents joining in with the games. At NAPA, to help children feel at home, we love to provide the inside and outside games. However, we are increasingly finding them left out causing bits to go missing. If this keeps up, we won’t have any games left with all the required items in them to play with. Parents of Primary-aged children, please help out by giving your child a message from us, as we can’t get to everyone (despite signs on the games cupboards), and that is to put the games neatly away after playing with them.
Broadway Bound
13 the Musical is cast, and rehearsals have begun. Here is a great shot of this talented group of performers having their first read through. They have already been working on spacing of the opening number and learning harmonies with Miss Steff. Final cast lists will be posted next week. We are so excited to see this production come together.
Intermediate Hip Hop
What a talented sassy group we have here. Just a reminder that Miss Hannah has started posting choreography for our Hip Hop groups to practise on our online learning site, like the video below of our Junior Hip Hop class highlighted last week. If you do not have your logins for your online learning portal page, please email [email protected].
The NAPA Vocal Team
This dynamic group of performers under the tuition of David Willis are progressing very well! Over the past few weeks, they have learned to sing and perform five songs including The Rose, A Million Dreams and Price Tag. They are a very enthusiastic bunch who put in a great effort every week. They all have an input in the choreography and presentation of their material. We look forward to seeing them perform in the Performance Team Concert.
Film + Television
It has been exciting to watch so many new faces and fresh talent arrive at the NAPA studios this year and become a part of what was already a strong and talented group of actors. Even through the inconsistency of the post pandemic world we are living in - our classes and the industry are finding a way through.
City of Gold Coast's Active School Travel Educational Videos
When sending out students to work on outside projects, it is always wonderful to get fantastic feedback about their performance and attitude. Last weekend a group of our students performed for an educational video and the choreography within the video was created by our teacher Alana Andrews. Producer Matt Rebello wrote, “They did AMAZING in what was a very technical shoot. We are over the moon with the shots.” Congratulations Austin Guljas, Hannah Finkel, Lucy Bowyer, Gracie Allgood, Spencer Rebello and our teacher Alana Andrews.
Showtime with Graeme Isaako
On Saturday night Graeme Isaako graced our stage with a heartfelt performance. Graeme played Aladdin in Aladdin, understudied Simba in the Lion King and has appeared on The Voice and So You Think You Can Dance. Graeme is about to start rehearsals for Moulin Rouge so this was a special performance for his fans before he leaves the Gold Coast. We were happy that we could provide him our space for his performance. It was wonderful to hear from so many people who had never been to our studio before as to how much they loved our humble theatre.
