NAPA News - Week 7, Term 2, 2021

Dear NAPA Families,

Wow what a busy week we have had! The main event this week was our first Eisteddfod in 2021 for groups! The studio has been a hub of activity with extra rehearsals and the fitting and distribution of costumes. For some of our students, this was their very first eisteddfod, so it was a mixture of nerves and excitement for them. Great job everyone involved!!! Check out the fantastic results below from yesterday’s eisteddfod. Congratulations cherubs and teachers! Thank you parents for all your support of your children.

It’s great to see so many of our students attending classes in their uniforms, providing a wonderful studio spirit feel.

The fence has been a great attribute, not only is it keeping our children safe, it has giving them an area to play, and also for parents to sit and enjoy socialising whilst waiting for their children.  In the next few weeks, we will introduce some outside games for the children to play whilst waiting for classes.

GET THE BEAT EISTEDDFOD

Yesterday saw an epic 12-hour long introduction to our eisteddfods for 2021 with our first competition at Get The Beat, Gold Coast. Our Performance Teams shone bright both on and off the stage and it was so beautiful to see them all up there again on the stage in such uncertain and unpredictable times. We are looking forward to many more opportunities to perform and grow this year.

A special thank you to Miss Kimmi and Miss Greta who worked tirelessly backstage with the cherubs from 8:30am to 10:30pm. Your efforts on eisteddfod days in keeping our cherubs moving, changed and on stage in fine form and with quick turnarounds, do not go unnoticed and are very much appreciated. And thank you to our Performance Team parents for the added running around delivering props and children to the venue, and staying to support our performance teams - it means the world to our kids, and they truly appreciate your efforts in helping them to achieve their performance goals.

YUMMY CANTEEN SPECIAL THIS WEEK

As this is the first week of winter, Miss Lynn has made lots of batches of homemade pumpkin, sweet potato and lentil soup for the canteen to sell. This warm healthy soup will help keep the chills away and provides a nutritious light meal for our students and family members to purchase this week. The cost of a cup of this yummy soup is $5.

Kristie will be away on Wednesday, could anyone fill in for her from 4-5pm this week?

FEATURED CLASSES

Each week we will try to feature some classes, to give you a peek to how they are travelling. Here are our featured ones for this week.

ACTING FOR CAMERA (from Miss Hollie)

It has been exciting to watch so many new faces and fresh talent arrive at the NAPA studios this year and become a part of what was already a strong and talented group of actors.

Even through the inconsistency of the post pandemic world we are living in - our classes and the industry are finding a way through, and some fantastic work is being created.

This week was a filming week for both the Pre-Senior and Senior classes. The actors prepare their scripts, arrive in class, and then jump straight into filming, where they receive direction and the opportunity to retake their scene.

We will review all the footage in class next week, where we break down the best scenes and all the actors receive individual feedback, and we enjoy class discussions around the work.

Watching the progress of these young actors is such a joy and it affirms that they are all well on track to begin our 'self-devised scenes' that will be the focus of next term.

JUNIOR HIP HOP (from Miss Hannah)

This group is progressing so well and loving this style of dance.
