NAPA News - Week 6, Term 2, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
Hope you all have had a great week at your house. At NAPA we are seeing some very excited children as they prepare for upcoming eisteddfods and shows. The canteen and games area are buzzing with excited conversations and happy faces. We love that we can provide a family atmosphere, a home away from home.
GET THE BEAT EISTEDDFOD NEXT WEEKEND!
The groups start on May 30 at The Star, this will be a lovely venue for our children to perform. Chookas to all of our Performance Teams! May you perform your routines the best you have ever done them and have lots of fun whilst doing it. Parents, please ensure you read every correspondence that Kim sends you to ensure your child is completely prepared. Kim emails and posts the same information on our Performance Teams’ Facebook page to ensure you see the information sent. It’s important you constantly check these. Being a Performance Team parent is a huge commitment with a lot of information and instructions to absorb, but necessary. If it is any consolation, it does get easier the more times your child does these competitions.
UNIFORMS
The winter uniforms are ready for pick up at reception. This week, we will begin to sell the uniforms left in stock to any of our students as we have given everyone plenty of time for families who ordered at the start of the year to change sizes or for Performance Team members to purchase any items they need. Please note the Activated Industry jackets are for Performance Team members only. Students not in the Performance Team could have purchased the blue hoody. I will pop those back on the online shop for those wishing to still order these.
GATE
As mentioned previously, our landlord is replacing the fence and gate that blew over in the storms at the end of last year. The work begins this week which will mean you will have to park on the street when you see this in progress. Once installed, entry will be through a side gate and no cars will be inside the fence. We have made this decision for the safety of our children. Staff parking is at the front of the building. Please walk in to pick up your child, especially if they are Primary-aged children, we don’t like to see them unsupervised on the street.
FINAL MONEY RAISED FOR: DANCE FOR SICK KIDS
Thank you to everyone who got involved in this wonderful fund-raising event. The total raised by our NAPA dance student participants was $7619. Congratulations!!!!!! The joy is knowing you made a difference.
ABIGAIL’S COVEN
Our Senior Tread the Boards enjoyed having Verity Hunt-Ballard to choreograph some movement pieces in the play this week. This performance will be on the 30-31 July which will be upon us before we know it.
13 The Musical
Our Broadway Bound class was looking very nervous about the cast announcements this week. Not all roles have been announced yet so we will wait for next week’s newsletter before publicising them. The kids can’t wait to get stuck into rehearsals.
Lion King
Our Broadway Kids and Tweens are engaging beautifully in rehearsals. Taking on the attributes of animals is very challenging, but an excellent teaching tool as it is a technique that actors use in playing any human character. Matching the characteristics of a character being played to an animal, helps develop the character in a fuller sense. Here we have some hyenas and our Grassland group working with some costume items.
Junior Tread the Boards
Our young thespians taking on characters that display status.
