NAPA News - Week 7, Term 4, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
What an incredible week! It saw the opening of Lion King, the announcement of us winning the Bulletin’s competition for the best Dance school on the Gold Coast and another success story for one of our students.
What incredible feedback we have had from our audiences at the first week of Lion King! A few comments have been made from parents that they now understand why we have such an intense rehearsal schedule in the last two weeks as this was the only time in our Playbill dates that we had to work with the set, costumes, puppets and headdresses – these are skills in themselves as you will see in the performance. Seeing the happy faces (and some tears) from our audiences and the exited and proud faces of our cast, makes all the hard work worthwhile. Thank you once again to the parents who have helped supervise in dressing rooms, do the make-up, sets, props, work on the bar, and backstage; we couldn’t do this without your support. Congratulations to our cast and crew! Have fun at next week’s performances!
What exciting news this was for us last week. Thank you so much to all of you who voted for us. The photo below that appeared in the printed version of the paper is a great one that captured our dancers dancing on the beaches of the Gold Coast. It is an old image, and Courtney and Bella are now two years older. We hope you are all feeling proud to be at the best dance school on the Gold Coast!
CONGRATULATIONS SPENCER HERMES – REBELLO
Spencer has been cast in an American TV serious being filmed in LA. He flew out last week to the US to start filming. Due to their non-disclosure contracts, Spencer and his family cannot release any details at this stage, so we will wait with anticipation until the release of the series. You may have seen Spencer on our stage, he played Brett in 13, Maui in Moana, and the Donkey in Shrek. Congratulations Spencer on such a fantastic achievement, we are all so very proud of you! Have fun in LA!
NEVERLAND TICKETS ARE ON SALE
Don’t forget to grab your tickets from HOTA’s box office soon. There are some very excited dancers looking forward to performing on this stage. Our dance concert is always so special with it being themed and storylined. After many years of being a dance mum, sitting through umpteen concerts with just a variety of dances, it can get boring in-between when your child isn’t on stage. This doesn’t happen at our dance concerts as we take you on a journey by linking our dances together to tell a story. So come and experience the NAPA styled dance concert.
BEST WISHES TO ALL OF OUR YEAR 12 STUDENTS
To all of our students in Year 12, we hope your celebrations for your final week at your various schools are fabulous! Our College Year 12s will be having a Graduation Dinner on Thursday night. We wish you all every success in your future pathways. Our Senior Awards evening will be our time to celebrate you graduating from NAPA. Stay safe whilst having fun if you are attending schoolies.
RAFFLE PRIZES
Thank you once again to our raffle sponsors. For the first week of Lion King, we used the prizes from the following sponsors listed below. Some will be kept for the Mini’s Concert and we also have some very big prizes donated by some very generous businesses. These will be kept for our Awards’ Ceremonies – one big one for each. Once we have reached the target for supplementing the ticket prices at HOTA, we will use any extra towards student awards. We appreciate your support in buying raffle tickets at our performances. All proceeds go directly to our students in some way and is managed by the P&F. Thank you to this week’s sponsors of these prizes.
