NAPA News - Week 6, Term 4, 2021

Dear NAPA Families,

This week sees the opening of the long-awaited production of Lion King! Lots of excitement is around the studio at the moment, not only with this production, but the upcoming ones as well. Changes in some class times has occurred to accommodate all the extra rehearsals for Lion King, Neverland and the filming for our Film Screening night.

Chookas to all our cast and crew for a spectacular production that will pull at the heart strings of our audiences. Thank you, parents and cast for supporting the decision to add another performance. It was a very popular decision as this performance has also sold out!

I would like to take the opportunity to recognise all the assistance we have received. Thank you, parents and senior students who have helped with backstage supervision, make-up and canteen assistance. The following people have put in so much time to help with the set, props, projections, make-up design, costume construction and lighting, so a big thank you to Colleen Reynolds, Trina Power, Michael Gaylard, Jaeda Power, Lucia Umpierrez, Laurie Dyer, Erin Fitzgerald, Leilani Frost, Thomas Bell, Maeli Tapper, Janneth Zielinski, Casandra & Greg Smith. You guys are AMAZING.

Check out the incredible construction of Pumbaa by Casandra and Greg Smith who have designed and constructed this fantastic ‘costume’ over quite a few months. Very professional indeed!

NEVERLAND TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!

These went on sale today and are being sold at HOTA’s box office, not from NAPA (although a link to the tickets is also available on our website). Thanks to the raffle donations and purchases, the estimated amount we will raise by the final performance of Lion King and the calculation of the expected audience size, we have managed to save approximately $5-$7 on each ticket at HOTA and still cover costs. All extra funds from the raffles run by our P&F will go towards a water dispenser for our kids to refill their drink bottles.

Ticket prices at HOTA are as follows.
Adults $42, Aged Pension $36, Senior Card holders $36, Students $36, and Children (3-15 yrs) $30.

Don’t miss out!

Please note that if your child is only in the first half of the show and not in the finale they have three options:

  • They can either be picked up at interval via the rear stage door to go home if parents only want to stay for the first half; or

  • Stay in the dressing room until the end of the show; or

  • Purchase a ticket for the second half (as HOTA does not allow them just to sit in without a ticket). The second half is only half an hour so we suggest option 1 or 2 would be more economical.Sitting on a parent’s knee is not an option.

DANCE STUDENTS’ NOTICE

Ensure you check the updated class times for this week, a timetable was emailed out. An update regarding costumes, hair and make-up has been sent home today. Please check your emails. T-shirt orders have now closed.

JUNIOR TREAD THE BOARDS DEMONSTRATION

As this class does not do a performance, we have instead, a demonstration of the work they have been doing in class. They have been working with a Fairy Tale theme and would like to invite their families to come and see what they have been working on. This will take place on Friday, 26 November at 5pm. So please put this on your calendars and come along to see your child and the improvements they have made. There is no charge for this demonstration and no need to book.

NAPA is certainly a place to be entertained with so many performances happening over the year.  We look forward to recognising the incredible work done by our students and teachers over the year at our Awards night next month.

Enjoy!

Lynn
