NAPA News - Week 7, Term 3, 2022

DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,

:: IMPORTANT NOTE ::
Classes will go ahead as normal on
Friday - Gold Coast show public holiday.

This week’s newsletter is filled once again with so much that’s happening at NAPA that I don’t know how we could ever send monthly or by term newsletters like most studios! Our weeks are packed with so much information that you need it in small chunks so you can keep abreast of it all. I am writing this after a full day rehearsal, whilst my business partner, Kim, is at Eisteddfods. Good job there are two of us or we could not offer so many opportunities. Talking about the eisteddfods, it is a very good place to start, so check out these great results this weekend!

GOLD COAST EISTEDDFOD RESULTS

Not only amazing results but also amazing feedback from the audience and backstage crew. One of the staff came to the dressing room to tell the kids that their Song & Dance gave him goosebumps and thanked them for their performance. So proud of them!

VOCAL SOLO CONCERT

Students having solo singing lessons here at NAPA have been invited, if they are performance ready, to perform in this concert on Saturday, 3rd September at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now, from our website. All students performing, please arrive in the outfit you are performing in at 5.30pm as at this time we will have sound checks, construct the running order, and have professional photos taken of you.

COLLEGE CABARET

Hopefully, third time lucky!!!! As you may have noted before, we have had to postpone the cabaret twice due to sickness of performers. It has been a challenge to reschedule as all our weekends are full of shows, so it will now be held on Tuesday, 23rd August from 7-8.30pm. The good part of this, is the Broadway Extension class has been invited to watch the Cabaret as this is their usual class time. So you guys can enjoy the show along with College students’ families and friends. Chookas to our Year 12s who star in this show and to the Year 10s & 11s who feature in the opening and closing.

REHEARSALS – WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL?

Sacrifice and commitment from all involved and their families. But I do feel sorry for our Xanadu cast’s dads, as we have scheduled a rehearsal on Father’s Day! Unfortunately, it is needed as that is the start of production week and that’s Show Biz folks! Hopefully, you can all plan a lovely breakfast or evening celebrations together.  On the other hand, you might enjoy having some peace and quiet as we look after your outgoing and probably loud (seeing they are performers) child. We will be scheduling an extra rehearsal for Xanadu, so please look out for an email from me in the next 24 hours.

For everyone else at NAPA be prepared for lots of upcoming rehearsals as your show gets closer. It is important that every effort is made to be at these, as this is how we get the best quality from our kids with the extra training and polishing. Show dates are on our website so you can always check the dates your child’s show is, then expect the few weeks before to have extra rehearsals, sometimes they are on Public Holidays and mostly Sundays prior to show week. So please, be prepared.

INTERMEDIATE FILM AND TV TIME CHANGES & FAREWELL TO RYAN LITTLER

Ryan will be leaving at the end of this term due to medical reasons. We would like to thank Ryan for all his efforts and great work at NAPA and wish him well for the future. Our new teacher will be announced in the upcoming couple of weeks. As Ryan is to have an operation in the final week of term, we have extended a couple of his classes in the two weeks leading up to the final week. Please note that I have sent out an email regarding the following time changes to complete some filming and make up time for the cancellation of the last week of term class. These are the time changes:

Friday, 2nd September. 4-6.30pm
Friday, 9th September 4-6.00pm
Friday, 16th September – no class
