NAPA News - Week 6, Term 3, 2022

DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,

This is another week NAPA families can feel proud of more great achievements by our wonderful students, past and present. The joy this pride brings to us all, adds so much happiness to our lives. Success is a combination of talent, dedication and work ethics of all of our staff and students. As a team, we teachers work hard together at giving the best tuition and training to achieve outstanding outcomes. Here is more testimony of that.

CONGRATULATIONS VOCAL SOLOISTS

Congratulations to all of our students for their fabulous results at Gold Coast Eisteddfod Vocal solos.

CONGRATULATIONS COLLEGE STUDENTS

Our College students study the History of Theatre. In their acting class with their incredible teacher, John Arthars, they engaged in activities of the different styles of performance throughout history. They demonstrated two of these styles to their parents and the rest of the Senior Tread the Boards class. Great job guys!

MORE PROUD MOMENTS OF PAST GRADUATES SUCCESS

In the last two weeks a few of us have gone to see the Queensland Conservatorium’s fabulous production of 42nd Street, starring our very own Andrea Zappacosta in the lead role of Peggy Sawyer and Chelsea Burton as Lorraine Flemming.  I got to see it on final night along with some of our students and the girls were fabulous; I couldn’t have been prouder!!!! Andrea and Chelsea will be graduating from this fantastic Musical Theatre course in 5 weeks, so we wish them every success for the future.  Also in the final night was our wonderful graduate David Howell, who got into NIDA where he has just graduated from and is currently filming for a movie.  We will hear more about this when it is released.

WORK ETHICS FOR THIS INDUSTRY

At NAPA we continually promote positive work ethics and work our cherubs hard to prepare them for this industry that is renowned for long hours and pushing the body to the limits. Chatting to our NAPA Graduates after 42nd Street, they talked about the hard work they put into the show and their weekly tap boot-camp to prepare them for the level of tap needed for this show, and now straight after the show they will be working towards their showcase. Professor Paul Sabey, who is Head of the Performing Arts at Queensland Conservatorium, summed up the level of hard work required to do a show by quoting a line from the show in the program,

“You’re gonna dance until your feet fall off, till you’re not able to stand up any longer, but five weeks from now, we’re gonna have a show.”

At NAPA we are not that tough but are on the right track as our kids are doing so well, whether it is getting into these amazing tertiary institutes for Performing Arts, or getting professional work or excelling in competitions. No wonder we are feeling so proud!

Chookas to all of our students competing in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod this week.

Beat wishes,

Lynn & Team
