NAPA News - Week 3, Term 4, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
Another wonderful week at NAPA – shows, rehearsals, training, indoor and outdoor game playing , and above all – lots of laughter.
13 The Musical
Lots of excitement was around the studio last week with the opening of our Broadway Bound production of 13 The Musical! This is a hilarious musical and, by the laughter and reactions from the audiences, the cast was hugely successful in getting the most out of the comedy as well as sensitively capturing the emotional content of this musical. Congratulations on a great opening week to everyone involved. It has been my absolute pleasure working with these awesome kids and our incredible Choreographer, Jacy Moore and brilliant Musical Director, Steffi Gowland. Thank you also to David Willis for filling in for Steff while she is on maternity leave. If you haven’t booked your tickets, there is a handful left for this week’s performances. Students moving up into this class next year would benefit greatly by seeing the show and to see some of the kids perform that they will be working with in 2022
RAD Ballet Exams
A massive congratulations to our students who had their RAD ballet exams on Friday. We are so proud of how hard you have all worked to prepare for this exciting day. Thank you to our amazing Miss Tahnee and Miss Charlotte for your love, guidance, training and support. Our ballerinas are lucky to have you.
Over the next few weeks, Miss Kim and our ballet staff will be assessing all of our non-exam students to see which class they will be in next year. Non-exam students will have their own classes in 2022 (e.g. Mini Ballet, Junior casual ballet, Senior casual ballet etc). If your child is interested in adding exams to their class schedule, please email Miss Kim for placement. Please note: RAD ballet has strict guidelines on age limits. Students will be placed in the class that is suitable to their age and ability. Placement in classes is at the teacher's discretion. Exam students must attend 2 classes per week. Email Miss Kim for more info - [email protected]
The Game
Next week sees the opening of The Game directed by Stuart Morgan and performed by our Intermediate Tread the Boards class on the 29, 30 October. Grab your tickets from our website to support these young thespians.
Filming and Photography during shows
Please be mindful of our policy regarding no filming or photographing during our shows. In most instances, this breeches our Licence Agreement as there are restrictions that we abide by which the general public maybe unaware of. It is also a distraction for our performers; our cast frequently complain about someone in the audience filming them while they are trying to focus on their performance. To ensure parents get plenty of photos and recording of each show, we put in place a media fee which is explained in the Parent Handbook and have them done professionally, which will be far better than you trying to get images from the audience. Photos are done in one of our final dress rehearsals so our photographers can get in close. A quick selection of the photos can be found in our Productions Gallery on our website, with the remainder emailed out with a link to parents at once editing is complete. Filming is done at two of our performances which is edited together then emailed to you as a link. The editing does take time, so please be patient regarding when this is sent out to you. With so many shows close together, it is a huge task to get these done. Please help us by explaining our policy to family and friends you may bring to the shows. To access the programs of the shows, there is a barcode placed on the tables for you to scan and save. This saves printing programs and you having to purchase them.
Sponsors
A HUGE thank you to our wonderful NAPA families who have been donating items for our raffles. Also thank you to all of you who support these raffles by buying tickets. We are so lucky not only to have your support but also to have Thomas Bell, our fabulous techy, who has a passion about selling the tickets at our shows (a job most people hate) to raise these funds. I am sure most of you have met this polite, friendly, young man as he approaches you with raffle tickets and calls out the winners with his traditional drum roll. The money raised will bring down our cost of tickets to our Dance Concert at HOTA. They also provide fabulous prizes at our shows.
