NAPA News - Week 3, Term 2, 2021

Dear NAPA Families,

Hope you have all had a wonderful week and enjoying the long weekends. Just a reminder, that only Performance Teams are at NAPA on Monday as indicated in the last newsletter, everyone else can enjoy a break for Labour Day. Rest assured that the extra time the children and teachers put into rehearsals close to concerts, plays and musicals, more than makes up for time off on public holidays. Lots of great things to report this week.

MONDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY REHEARSALS
(TODAY)

On Labour Day (TODAY) we will not run classes as so many go away this weekend, but we will be having rehearsals TODAY for Performance Teams at the following times:

2.15-4.15 Opens Tap

4.30-5.30 10’s Small Group Jazz

5.30-7.30 12’s Dance Team

We have had to reschedule these extra rehearsals for 15s and Opens Musical Theatre teams as follows:

15's MT - Wednesday 12th, 19th and 26th: 3.45-5.00

Opens MT - Wednesday 12th, 19th and 26th: 5.00-6.30

GLEE CLUB CHANGE

We are happy to announce a change to Glee Club.  Our fabulous singing teacher, David Willis, has reported that the students in this group have made such incredible progress that he would like to increase the scope of this class. After a very productive discussion, we have decided to make this a Performance Team class, which means these kids will be entering eisteddfods as well as performing at our Performance Team Concert, whilst still performing at community events as originally planned. To this avail, we have decided on making a name change to NAPA Vocal Team. The students already have built up a repertoire of songs but will now begin preparing for the eisteddfods.  If anyone who loves to sing and want to improve their technique, this is a great class to be in. If your child would like to join this awesome team, now is the time to enrol as we will need to close off enrolments once it is at a point that a new student would have difficulty catching up.

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND EXCURSION

On Saturday night, our College kids had a great night out with some of their teachers to La Boite Theatre to see Once on this Island. It was extra special as our teacher, Winston Morrison played the Storyteller and played piano in the show and ex graduate Conor Putland, played the lead role of Daniel. It was a beautiful musical performed in theatre-in-the-round.  Our students now have the challenging task of doing a review on the show for assessment.

UNIFORMS & COSTUMES

  • Thank you to those who ordered the winter uniforms. These will be a couple of weeks to produce. I will let you know when they arrive.

  • Activated Industry uniforms will arrive next week. To allow me time to sort them into the individual orders, we will make the collection date from Monday, 10 May. Your uniforms will be in reception.

  • Performance Team costumes are going to be purchased this week. This is the final call for costume payments. Your costume will not ordered if you have not paid.

CORRESPONDENCE

At NAPA we pride ourselves on ensuring communication is at its best.  We email, Facebook, Instagram, have just about everything you need to know on the website and in your Parent Handbook as well as the weekly newsletter.  However, we still seem to have parents confused about some aspects of the operations at NAPA.  Please ensure you read everything provided for you as well as checking that our emails are not going to your junk box.  If they are, please ensure you set your preferences to accept emails from our address.  Some children have missed opportunities due to parents not receiving or reading the information provided.

DANCE FOR SICK KIDS

Well done to all the kids who signed up for Dance for Sick Kids! It is not too late to join and make a difference to children suffering from terrible illnesses. This takes place in National Families Week 15-21 May.

CANTEEN NEWS

Our kids are loving having the canteen open every day selling yummy food.  We are introducing more vegetarian options on our menu this week. Check out the updated specials menu below. On weekdays the canteen closes at 5pm but Kristie is happy to take orders and keep food warm for children wanting theirs later.

ALL SAINTS PRODUCTION OF CRAZY FOR YOU

Many of our students are in Crazy for You at All Saints.  Although this production is sold out, they are doing a special extra matinee performance as a fundraiser for The Sanctuary Women’s Refuge in memory of murder victim Kellie Wilkinson. All Saints always produce excellent standard in their productions. Here is the link if you would like to go, enjoy a show and support a worthy cause.
