NAPA News - Week 2, Term 2, 2022

Dear NAPA Families,

Lots of great announcements and reminders in this week’s newsletter so please don’t miss out on reading the content. Another public holiday today but classes from 3pm onwards will run as usual.

CONGRATULATIONS BROADWAY BOUND STUDENTS

The talent in this class is incredible which it made it very difficult for our staff to make the final selection as so many were deserving of the roles. However, finding that ‘extra’ quality that aligned with each role was the clincher and now we can release the cast. Congratulations to each and every one of you for your great auditions. Please note - due to licensing restrictions, unfortunately these graphics cannot be shared on Social Media by anyone, but we want all cherubs to know how excited we are to see you all shine on stage in this production!

CONGRATULATIONS ZELLI CONNELLY

Our College student Zelli Connelly who plays a lead role of Lila Gray in 10 Shake/10 Play’s TV production of Rock Island Mysteries which premieres tonight at 5pm. This teen comedy runs for 20 episodes and airs every Monday at 5pm. We hope you get to enjoy it!

Rock Island Mysteries follows the adventures of 14-year-old Taylor and her friends as they explore the secrets of the beautiful and mysterious Rock Island.

The series, created by Matt Cooke, Vince Lund and Michael Ford, premieres May 2 on 10 Shake and 10 Play, followed by Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand from June and global audiences on Nickelodeon International later in the year.

Alexa Curtis leads the cast as Taylor, a charismatic and energetic leader. Her tight-knit group of friends include Nori Harlow (Noah Akhigbe), Meesha Rai (Inessa Tan), Ellis Grouch (Ryan Yeates) and step-sister Lila Gray (Izellah Connelly). They explore the mysteries of the island on which they live, fuelled by Taylor’s fascination with her Uncle Charlie’s disappearance, and determination to find out what happened to him.

REMINDER OF UPCOMING EVENTS

MEET + GREET HAPPY HOUR

This event is for all of our parents and will be held on the 7 May from 4-5pm.  It is a great opportunity, especially if you are new this year, to meet other parents, our P&F, and some of our staff. Come and enjoy half-priced drinks and complimentary nibblies in our courtyard whilst being treated to piano music being played by our very own fabulous singing teacher, David Willis. A great pre-Talent Quest event if you wish to stay on.

TALENT QUEST

This event will be held on 7 May from 5pm until approximately 6.30pm. Contestants need to meet in the theatre at 4pm. This event is free of charge, so come and join us to see our entries perform on stage.

Q+A WITH COURTNEY MONSMA (ANNA IN FROZEN)

Don’t miss out on meeting Courtney on Friday, 13 May at 5pm! This is a great opportunity for our students to ask her about her journey through training and performing, as well as about the show.

SOLO CONCERT

This event will be held at 7pm on 21 May. Tickets can be purchased online from tomorrow onwards. Tickets are $15 adults and $10 children. Students performing are ones who are doing private lessons and entering as soloist in competitions. This opportunity gives them another chance to perform in front of an audience, which helps to polish their performance. This concert will be for dance soloist and College students. We couldn’t fit in all privates so other students having private singing lessons will get an opportunity later in the year when we do a second soloist concert.

SINGING LESSONS

There has been a big demand for singing lessons but often parents want them in a session close to when their child has a class. As you can imagine with so many students and teacher time availability it is difficult to satisfy everyone. We have now Imogen Laag who is taking the Broadway Kids class, who will come on board for privates to give you more time selections.

FEE CONFUSION

We have had a number of enquiries as to why April fees did not have the holidays taken off the invoice.  If you are unclear, please read the Parent Handbook regarding the full explanations, but briefly let me explain.  You are not charged for holidays. Your yearly fee is based on the number of weeks in each term added together; no holidays included. This yearly fee is then divided into 10 monthly payments from February – November, so every month stays the same unless you add or subtract a class. This will then be adjusted accordingly.

FAREWELL TO CLAUDINE AND CAROLINE

It is with great sadness we say goodbye (hopefully for not long) to Claudine Anderson and Carolyn Taylor.  Due to health reasons Claudine will have to leave us after next week. Her talent, passion, energy and caring nature will be greatly missed by all her students. We are currently working on a replacement. We wish Claudine all the best and a speedy recovery.

Carolyn was only contracted for Term 1 as she has other work commitments for the rest of the year. She will be back next year which we look forward to as her singing teaching for our Broadway Kids has been incredible. Carolyn has offered to cover if anyone is away during the year so we will still see her pop in now and again.  We welcome Imogen Laag who will replace Carolyn for the rest of the year.

Have a fantastic week everyone,

Lynn & Team
