NAPA News - Week 9, Term 2, 2022
DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,
In our last week of term, we have much to be proud of with so many wonderful achievements by our students. Just a reminder that classes finish on 25 June and resume on the 11 July. We hope that you all have a fabulous holiday and a big rest, as Semester 2 is our busiest time with all the productions being staged and the competitions entered. Even a theatre company is pushed to have so many productions in one year!
DAKOTA IS FLYING OFF TO THE USA TO PERFORM
Congratulations to Dakota Janssen, who was recently awarded an all-expenses paid trip to the USA for her and her mum, Kimberley, next week. Dakota was selected to compete at KAR Competition, representing Get the Beat's 'Team Australia'. This is a testament to all your hard work Dakota, and we are all so very proud of you and all your achievements. We can't wait to follow your journey! Well done, cherub!
BRISBANE’S PERFORMING ARTS CHALLENGE RESULTS
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to these talented NAPA students on the great results listed below. We are so proud of you.

Intermediate Musical Theatre Scholarship: Silan Tai-Meyer - top 8 finalist
Senior Musical Theatre Scholarship: Charlotte Smith - top 8 finalist and Senior Encouragement Award. Charlotte was awarded a $25,000 2-year Scholarship for Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance.
Senior Acting & Drama Scholarship: Charlotte Smith - top 5 finalist and Senior Runner Up.
RUDOLPH CAST ANNOUNCEMENT
Congratulations Broadway Kids on some great auditions and lots of huge efforts. Here is the cast announcement of the major roles and the groupings. There are quite a few small roles within the groupings yet to be cast but these will be awarded to students who work hard in their groups to earn these. This is a great learning experience in this regard. Every cast member will have a name for their character that they play. This will be revealed in a few weeks.
LOST PROPERTY
Despite my announcement last week, lost property has grown, not reduced! Please ensure you check lost property this week as they will be disposed of on Saturday. It’s sad to see so many expensive dance shoes in lost property and some have been there for quite a while; I am not sure what the owners are dancing in.
PJ WEEK
Just a reminder that THIS WEEK - final week of term (20 – 25 June) is Pyjama Week. Have fun everyone turning up at NAPA in your PJs.
POSTPONEMENT OF COLLEGE CABARET
Sadly, our cabaret last Friday had to be postponed to 5 August as one of our Year 12 students, Elysium, became quite ill and just about lost her voice. As this Cabaret features this year’s graduates, it couldn’t go ahead without her. As Chicago is coming up, our students need to focus on this right now, hence why we have re-scheduled until after Chicago.
UNIFORMS
For those of you wanting NAPA Dance wear we are now offering the stock we have for sale. We only have a few sizes of the most popular items.
We are not happy with the long wait for our Mini Uniforms and last week we got this message from them, “We have just discovered that 3 x size 10 All About Me sets were made instead of 3 x size 12 that you ordered”. Apparently, they can get these to us by the first week of next term, so if this is a size you ordered it will be a longer wait. Hopefully the others will arrive this week as promised by them.
COLLEGE AUDITIONS
Thank you to all of those who have submitted their application form to join our College next year. Just a reminder that Round 1 closes on 30 September. To keep the quality of this program and the ability to mentor and nurture each student, we aim to keep the cohort fairly small. If we fill the number of spaces we have in the first round there will not be any further rounds, so if you are thinking about applying for a place, you are best to apply in the first round.
Have a fantastic last week everyone
Lynn & the NAPA Team
