NAPA News - Week 4, Term 3, 2022

DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,

This week we are overflowing with pride! So many great achievements packed into one week. This semester is a time where our classes can display their incredible training from Semester 1 as they start performing their shows and enter competitions. I am sure we have lots of parents filled with love and pride of their children right now. Let’s start with this week’s Get the Beat comp in Brisbane.

CONGRATULATIONS PERFORMANCE TEAMS

A huge congratulations to our Performance Teams and their teachers for such outstanding results from this week’s Get the Beat competition in Brisbane as well as the great feedback from the competition’s organisers which was that our students were the best-behaved group there. We value this type of feedback as behaviour and attitude is something we focus on here at NAPA. Now check out these results and feel proud!

CONGRATULATIONS MR ZANE!

Laurie and I were lucky enough to see our very popular Boys Crew teacher, Zane Powell in the production of Priscilla staged at the Casino. He was incredible! Zane certainly has the triple threat along with such engaging energy; no wonder the kids love being taught by him. He played a variety of roles in the show, we captured the final role in this photo – see if you can guess which character he is.

CONGRATULATIONS THOMAS BELL

We have had great feedback regarding the lighting in Chicago, some from industry professionals, so I would like to make a special mention of our Lighting Guru, Thomas Bell. If you have been to our shows, you may have met Thomas when selling you raffle tickets. Thomas loves to do this so he can meet people and support NAPA. A little bit of background here. Thomas came to us when he was in Year 10 looking for work experience in the lighting department. Within the first year, he learnt so much that he was able to program and operate lights. His thirst for more knowledge has increased his skills and creativity. Thomas graduated from school last year and this year he earned himself an apprenticeship with HOTA and works for us programming lights and operating when he is available. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for such a talented and dedicated young man. Congratulations Thomas.

CHOOKAS FOR UPCOMING PRODUCTIONS

College Cabaret

We wish our college students all the best as they perform their Cabaret this Friday night. The Cabaret features our Year 12 students, Elysium Hipwood, Kaden Forbutt and Cooper Swain, who have each put together a 20-minute performance to reflect their performance journey. The Year 10s and 11s will open and close the show. The Cabaret is part of their assessment. The students will be inviting friends and family to attend. Best wishes for a great performance!

THE DAY THE INTERNET DIED

Chookas to Miss Jane and her Pre-Senior Tread the Boards students for their performances on Sunday, 7 August at 2pm and 7pm. This is quite a challenging production as students play multiple roles. We look forward to their performances. Tickets can be purchased from our website. Enjoy!

EXTRA REHEARSALS

Another proud moment! As so many shows are looming it is quite a challenge to schedule all the extra rehearsals around classes and other shows. So far, the commitment from our students and their parents has been fantastic. We really appreciate how so many of you have juggled other commitments to ensure your child is at the rehearsal. We are very proud of our performers and teachers’ commitment and work ethics. Thank you to all who have made these sacrifices to be at rehearsals, as they are necessary. A once-a-week class does not cut it, so all productions need that extra time. Please note that there are no extra charges for extra rehearsals.

We look forward to another productive week at NAPA.

Best wishes,

Lynn & Team
