NAPA News - Week 10, Term 3, 2022

DEAR NAPA FAMILIES,

XANADU

Xanadu was a great show to finish off the week! Congratulations to our fabulous cast and crew, Kim, Jackie and I were so proud of them all. The show was filled with talent and dedication. The support of the parents was amazing! It was the best bump-out in ages, so many parents helped that the set was pulled down, dressing rooms cleaned, theatre packed away, and tubs of costumes taken home to be washed, all within an hour and a half. I would like to make a special mention of our student helpers who did an awesome job, congratulations to our student mentors Zelli Connelly & Lucia Umpierrez, and to our sound operator, Georgia Chalmers. Also thank you to Luan Fitzgerald who volunteered to help out with this class, so we gave him the role of Zeus as we were short a male for this role.

Dedication

It is wonderful how being involved in a production develops dedication and great work ethics. On the opening night of Xanadu, coincidently our lighting operator, Thomas Bell, and our Sound Operator, Georgia Chalmers, both had their birthdays, but came to do the show. This is how they celebrated their birthdays: playing board games pre-show, then a birthday cake celebration with the cast, followed by operating sound and lighting for the rest of the evening. Got to love Showbiz!

Performance Team Concerts this week

Chookas to all of our Performance Teams for their performances this week. This is going to be a great display of their year’s work in preparing for all of the competitions throughout the year. For all of you lucky enough to have got a ticket, you will understand why these teams have been awarded so highly in the competitions so far. Parents of these talented cherubs, please ensure you read carefully the rehearsal schedule for this week.

Thank you to Ryan Littler and welcome Jemma Kuchel

A big thank you to Ryan for all the great work he has put into NAPA. Unfortunately, due to health reasons he will no longer be teaching for us. Ryan has produced some great film work with our students and recorded productions and teachers doing lessons during COVID Lockdown. We wish him well for his future. Welcome to Jemma Kuchel who will be taking Ryan’s class next term. Jemma is currently studying a Bachelor of Film & Television at Bond University, with the additional Major of Theatre from Murdoch University, WA. Her studies in Film & TV has involved live television broadcasting, photography, and has covered many facets of film production such as producing, screenwriting, directing actors, cinematography, editing and sound production.

Congratulations Michael Bishop

We are so proud of our graduate Michael Bishop who has scored the role of Jonathan Kent in Season 3 of Superman & Lois. This is another incredible achievement after playing the lead role in Disney Channel movie, Spin.  Congratulations Michael, you are our Superman.

Lost property reminder

Last week I sent photos of lost property, but unfortunately the pile has grown not reduced. Some of the items are very expensive so I am concerned that parents have not realised that their child’s items are here at NAPA. Please check the lost property stand this week, it’s located just behind the canteen in the games room. They will be removed on Saturday, so this is your last chance.

Ticket Sales

Since advertising last week the term 4 shows that have gone on sale, we are just about sold out.  Wow, your support of our productions is AMAZING! Please ensure you don’t miss out as it is so hard for us when you have missed out as unfortunately, unless someone can’t make a performance, there is nothing we can do to accommodate you as there is no space to add seating. Due to so many performances throughout the year, there is no time to add more performances, so our hands are tied, so please be onto it.

Enjoy your last week of term everyone
