NAPA News - Week 9, Term 1, 2021
Dear NAPA Families,
Happy Easter NAPA Families!
We hope you have lots of wonderful plans for the holidays and that your children have enjoyed their first term at NAPA. Our last day of term is this Thursday and our first day of Term 2 classes starts on Monday, 19 April. It has been an amazing term of our students’ skill growth as well as seeing our new students settling so well into their classes. We have had lots of proud moments watching so many of our students step out of their comfort zone and audition for roles. Auditions are very nerve wracking for even the experienced performer, so seeing children step up to do this demonstrated the confidence they have gained.
LAST DAY OF TERM 1 - THIS THURSDAY, 1 APRIL 2021
FIRST DAY OF TERM 2 - MONDAY, 19 APRIL 2021
IMPORTANT COVID NOTICE
Sadly our final week of Term 1 will be spoilt by the latest COVID restrictions. Some of our teachers have been to Brisbane since 20 March, so there will be a few changes regarding staffing and we need to implement the following changes as per government directions given. Thank you for your cooperation.
Any person who has been in Brisbane since March 20th must self-isolate from 5pm today, until Thursday at 5pm.
Masks are to be worn in the studio - this includes all teachers, visitors and children 13+. *May be removed for vigorous exercise ONLY - e.g. acro, dance teams
Sign in sheet for all visitors, HOWEVER please drop and go. No parents to stay at the studio in any of the common areas, including the outdoor areas. Please see Laurie in reception for emergencies ONLY.
All students to sanitise hands on arrival and departure from class.
We will keep everyone posted if any of this changes!
WINNERS
We were provided a limited number of Circus Rio tickets to give out as rewards. As this circus is animal free and contains lots of aerial and acrobatic routines, we decided they should go to our acro classes and to our Broadway Kids and Tweens who have recently had the challenge of doing lots of online activities for Lion King. All the Broadway Kids and Tweens were awarded a number of stamps on their charts according to the amount of work they did but we selected the highest achiever from each age group. An extra challenge for the Tweens was also given to win 2 free tickets to our production of the Lion King.
Congratulations to our Broadway Tweens winners:
Madison Hirst winner of the 2 Lion King tickets
Madeline Terzis winner of the Circus Ticket
Congratulations Broadway Kids winners of the Circus Ticket:
Grades 1-2 Aneka Mitchell
Grades 3-4 Ivy Garrett
Congratulations Acro winners of the Circus Ticket:
Courtney Sutherland, Dakota Janssen, Eadie Kelly, Hannah Clark, Kael Smith, Willow Cooper, Zyla Boyd
Winter Uniforms are ready to order on your portal on the online store!
As the winter approaches, our students need something warm with their uniform. As only Performance Teams students can purchase the Competition Jacket, it leaves the rest out in the cold, so to speak. We have on sale a lovely black sweatshirt with silver lettering on the front that we have had for the past three years as part of the uniform, however, for those who prefer a jacket, this year we are introducing a blue, zip up the front, hoody. If you go to the online store in your portal you can see a picture of these items to order now. Also on sale from your portal is Boys Crew uniforms and the College Hoody. All other items have been taken off as we are only ordering these items at this stage. The cut off for the order is the end of April.
Canteen
As discussed in last week’s newsletter, the canteen will be opened Monday to Thursday from 4-5pm and on Saturdays from 9-12.30pm with a new menu in Term 2. We asked for your input as to what you would like to see sold at the canteen but sadly out of 300+ families, only four responded. To make sure we are catering for your needs, we really would like your ideas on what your children want to purchase. So that we can stock up during the holidays, please help us with your feedback by clicking the tab below.
Lost Property
These are the items in our Lost Property box. Anything left after Thursday will either be resold on our second-hand rack if they are uniforms, but if they are not, they will either be thrown out or given to charity. If you can identify any of these items as your child’s, please pop in to grab them this week.
Enrolments closed
We have now closed off the following classes to new enrolments: Tread the Boards for Senior, Pre-Senior and Intermediate; Musical Theatre classes; FTV classes and Performance Team. This is either because the class is about to start their rehearsals for their performances, or the class has reached its capacity.
Hopefully everything will be back to normal in Term 2. Stay Safe and have a Happy Holiday
