NAPA News - Week 6, Term 1, 2023

Dear NAPA Families,

We hope you have all had a wonderful week. Not a lot of news this week, just a few things to hopefully assist you in getting the most out of NAPA. Please note carefully this first bit of news.

Important Notice

Effects of Roof Installation

We have great news! Our landlord is replacing the entire roof of our studio. For those of you who have witnessed over the years the damage done by the amount of leaks in our roof, you will understand why it is needed so much.  The repairs have not worked in that no sooner they repair one hole, another appears.  This is why on rainy days you see lots of buckets around, and even when shows are on, you may have seen a quick run on in a blackout to dry off any water onstage. Many of our ceiling panels, walls, flooring  and electrical equipment have been damaged by these leaks over the years. The insurance hasn't covered the replacement of the roof, so we are very grateful to our landlord who is paying for a new roof. Unfortunately, the time required to install it will be 3 weeks, so we are going to have to cancel classes in the last week of this term. Our last classes in Term 1 will be on Saturday, 25 March.

The classes that are affected in the final week will be made-up in the following way:

1. The following classes will be made-up with extra rehearsals throughout the year.

All Dance, Acro, Tap, S&D/MT Performance Teams (including their adjoining technique class), all production classes (Broadway Bound/Tweens/Kids, Tread the Boards) and all RAD ballet classes.

2. The following classes will be credited one week of classes on your next invoice.

Monday - Film and TV classes: Tuesday - Technique, Tap and Hip Hop; Wednesday - Pre-Senior Technique and Junior Acting; Thursday - Acrobatics, Recreational Ballet; Friday - Dance Extension classes.

Online Learning and Resources

Some classes post support materials, scripts, recordings of routines to practice, songs to learn etc. You are emailed a code if and when this applies to your child’s class. There has been a bit of confusion as to how to access the material, so here are the instructions.

To access the online learning portal, visit the NAPA Website at www.napa.com.au and navigate to the ‘Online’ Menu at the top of the page (see above). The list of classes with current content for learning can be found in the list in the dropdown menu. If your teacher has not yet provided you with a password for your class, please visit or contact NAPA Reception for access.

NAPA Cherubs ‘Light up the Stage’

Congratulations to all of our solo students who competed at ‘Light Up the Stage’ today. We are so proud of your professionalism and sportsmanship on and off the stage. Well done cherubs and teachers!

P&F News

EASTER RAFFLE DONATIONS REQUEST

We are looking for donations for the Easter raffle - if you are able to add chocolates, chocolate eggs, bunnies etc, to your grocery shop and would like to donate some items towards some hampers, your donations would be much appreciated. All funds go towards improving training facilities and opportunities for your children.

BAKED GOODS DONATIONS REQUEST

We really appreciate those who are taking time to bake goodies for the canteen. Please contact Janneth Zarate if you are intending to bring some in on Saturdays so that she can meet you and thank you.

RECYCLE BINS - CANS + BOTTLES = $$

Please encourage the cherubs to use the recycle bins provided and PLEASE do not put rubbish into the recycling bins. Our P&F team have the unenviable task of sorting the cans and bottles and finding rubbish and food scraps throughout is not pleasant. 🤢

HELP NEEDED FOR THE BBQ

We still looking for mums, dads and NAPA family who can help cook the BBQ on Saturdays. If you are around and can spare a Saturday morning, please let Janneth Zarate know so that we can coordinate.

Last Year’s Awards

If you were away last year for the Awards nights, we have kept the certificates for you. They are at reception if you wish to collect them. We will leave them there until the end of term and then throw out those not collected. So, if you would like to grab these please pop in soon.

This Year’s Awards

Now the classes are settled with students not trialling, we will create our class reward charts. This year, for Primary aged students and all dance students, instead of wall charts we will have files of individual charts. We just don’t have enough wall space for the big posters we used to have. High school production classes will continue to use the point system. If you wish to know more about our Rewards system and Studio Spirit, please check out the Parent Handbook.

Zane’s Hip Hop Classes

We welcome Cooper Swain as our Junior and Intermediate Hip Hop teacher. Cooper will replace Zane who has now moved to Sydney. Cooper worked with Zane last year and loves working with these classes.  We are excited to have Cooper join our teaching staff after graduating from the college last year with a Certificate IV in Musical Theatre and is now studying at The Con.

Frozen Jr Audition Updates

Great to see the enthusiasm for auditioning last week. Call-back information will be sent out this week.

Have an awesome week everyone,

Cheers,
Lynn & Team
