NAPA News - Week 5, Term 1, 2022
DEAR PARENTS,
I hope you are all coping OK with all of this rain. It does make the drop-offs and pick-ups challenging but we appreciate all your efforts in making these as safe as possible and not being put off attending by the rain. Let’s hope the sun will be shining again soon.
WE ARE OPEN
Please note that with weather conditions currently unfolding across South East Queensland, we will remain open on Monday, 28 February 2022, however we encourage parents to use wisdom. We ask that you do not drive if conditions are unsafe.
(as at 5pm, Sunday, 27 February2022. Please stay tuned for any changes on the P&F Facebook Group.)
MINI UNIFORM ORDER
Many did not turn up for the sizing session on Saturday, so our student helper, Charli, fitted students with the samples and have put up the sizes in your facebook group. Please ensure you order the size that she has listed. If you have already ordered and want to change the order, please email me ([email protected]) so I can change it for you. Orders will close off at 6pm, Saturday, 5 March.
SENIOR TREAD THE BOARDS
We are excited to announce that we have been granted the Licence to perform 30 Reasons Not To Be in a Play by Alan Haehnel. This play is a Comedy about only a few of the many things that can go wrong during the production of a play. It is a full evening of the horrors and hardships that befall those who feel the call of the stage. In a series of hilarious examples, stage kisses, pinkeye, inciting World War III - these are only a few of the many things that can go wrong during the production of a play. The play highlights that drama can be a very dangerous thing and it must be avoided at all costs. Not that we are trying to put you all off attending NAPA and not following your dreams LOL! This is more about challenging our Senior students with the level of complexity contained in this play that also has 72 roles, so students will be playing multiple roles under the expert guidance of their fabulous teacher John Arthars. Looking forward to seeing this one.
CLASSROOM FUN
Here are a few photos of class fun this week. Please note that the first one was Broadway Tweens doing character sculptures, this was their interpretation of a ‘mother.’ What a bossy lot you must all be! 🤣
OFFICE FUN
Good to see our cherubs checking on Laurie to make sure he is doing a good job. Well done Dakota.
SPOT THE CHERUB
Many of our students as well as teachers Greta and Zane were in the movie Elvis as extras and some feature roles. If you get to see this movie look out for those familiar faces you see at NAPA. There are too many to name.
NAPA GRADUATES
It’s great to be kept up to speed regarding what our NAPA students are doing to further their studies or career in the entertainment industry. So, if you are wondering what they are doing, these graduates are studying at the following institutes this year
Siennna Cooper and Harry Townsend – studying a Diploma of Musical Theatre at Brent St
Jade Goldberg - Bachelor of Film at JMC Academy
Maeli Tapper - Diploma of social media marketing at TAFE
Grace Nean - Bachelor of Film at SAE Creative Media Institute in Brisbane
Zeke Whitecross – studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) at QUT
NAPA COLLEGE CLASS OF 2022 PHOTO
Our new cohort is settling into the demands of the course. It is long hours and lots of hard work and training to get used to, but it soon becomes part of their ‘norm’. In fact when Grace Nean went for her interview to study a Bachelor of Film, they told her that the Cert IV provided an edge for first round placement in the degree as an undergrad … it is an indication that they can handle the larger workload. With a few sicknesses at the start, last week saw the first week of full attendance so we could take the class photo. We wish them every success on their Performing Arts journey.
Wishing you all a much ‘dryer’ week.
Best wishes,
Lynn
