Synopsis
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, All Shook Up is a jukebox music featuring the songs of Elvis and follows a small Midwestern town that is thrown into a frenzy with the arrival of Chad, a good-looking, motorcycle-riding roustabout, who rides from town to town with a guitar on his back, blue suede shoes on his feet, and a song in his heart. Repressed by their conservative mayor, the town begins to come alive once more under Chad’s influence as they all just can’t help falling in love.
Director’s Note
Jukebox musicals are always so much fun as it is the music that drives the experience of the show as you sing and dance your way through an artist’s catalogue of hits. And Elvis had quite the catalogue. All Shook Up has 25 musical numbers - which is a massive undertaking. But as is always the way when you raise the bar or challenge a group of young people to extend themselves - they always will. As a creative team Mr Matt, Miss Hannah, Miss Kierarn and I are so incredibly proud of how our cast rose to the challenge and we are so excited for you to see them all shine tonight. This is my first year back with NAPA - I was part of the team many years ago before I had my son and upon returning 8 years later, the buildings are different and there are many trophies on the walls as the years have gone by which speak to the standard of excellence achieved and photos of young people who have gone on to do wonderful things in the industry but the one thing that has remained is that very special quality that students at NAPA have in abundance - they are hardworking, determined and incredibly supportive of each other and an absolute joy to work with. - CILLA SCOTT
